Yeah, he's a chocolate Lab. He's totally insane and still thinks he's an 8 week old pup, which is funny until he lands on you. He weighs 39Kgs (86 lbs) and his favourite hobby is lying on people!!!

It is believed that a shitzu was created by breeding a Pekingese and a Lhasa Apso. So it really could be either one (they look very similar).

I don't have any puppy pictures on my computer. :(

I/My parents have 2 half german shepard, half huskies. They're sisters.

I don't have any photos where they're posing well because it's hard to keep them still, but one of my dogs died last month. Had to be put to sleep. :( :( Now the other one is just lonely, or so I heard. I can't even go home to see her. :(

Here's the one who died.

What is your experience like with the male? Is he totally off the wall excited or will he lay down and be nice.
I live in an apartment and I am away 50 hours a week. 6:40am to 5pm so it is crucial that the dog be ok on his own. When I get home we'll go for a walk so he'll get out at least once a day 7 times a week.

My male is an extremely rare Jack Russell, but not because he is wire-haired, but because he is extremely laid back for a JR. My female, who is now a lot bigger than that picture, is...crazy. She is extremely hyper and I think it bothers my male because all he wants to do is chill out. They're great dogs, but make sure to get one of the laid back ones because the crazy ones need a lot of time and dedication or else they go nuts. They're great dogs, they just need a lot of attention.

Sorry for the slow response.

Like all Labradors they have fantastic temperaments.
Except the gene that makes them brown also makes them a bit tapped, if you know what I mean. Caleb is very intelligent but has no common sense.
He still act like a 6 month old puppy which can be very amusing but also very painful, when all 86 lbs of him lands on your stomach first thing in the morning.

I much prefer chocolate Labs to yellow or black, they're more fun.

...Ok, so Roj isn't technically a puppy, BUT, he was raised by a couple of Bull Terriers and acts a lot like a dog, we got him when he was still very young and he wasn't at all timid like most rabbits, in fact he was very eager to come over and check us out when he first arrived. When alert he has a very aggressive stance that really resembles how dogs stand when alert with all his weight on his front paws and his ears pointing forwards. I'll get a shot of him standing like that next time I let him out. :)

My mother doesn't like dogs so this is as good as it gets for us. :o

He's 35lbs (Now 39 after eating 12 chocolate chip cookies! ) but he was the largest of the litter and he's a male. Our friends have a the runt female and shes about 20lbs. When Griffin is compared to a normal male ausi he's a lot smaller but compared to a female he's about the same size.

Yes luckly. He's had a lonnnggg weekend! It was "Semi-Sweet Chocolate" which the doctor said is one of the the worst kind of chocolate that a dog can have. We gave him somthing (I forgot what it's called) to make him barf. About 12 hours later he through up 5 times in a period of probably 3 hours. We then took him to the doctor who said to put him in an over night hostpital. They put him on IV and drugs and had a much more restful night. The next day we picked him up and now he's doing much much better.

When Griffin is compared to a normal male ausi he's a lot smaller but compared to a female he's about the same size.http://www.talktothevet.com/ARTICLES/DOGS/chocolatetoxic.HTM

I was under the impression that it actually took an inordinate amount of chocolate in order to induce toxicity in dogs. For example, your dog would have needed to eat nearly 1 full pound of chocolate (according to that website, 12 ounces) to be toxic. Basically, you would have had to drop the entire bag of chocolate chips and for him to eat it all to be toxic. Unless you packed a full pound of chocolate chips into those 12 cookies, your vet might have over-reacted.

Though, if I had been in the same situation with my dogs, over-reacting on the side of more caution would more than likely have been my response too. I know that I wouldn't want to take chances with a member of my family (and they do become members of the family) like that.

(And baker's chocolate is apparently the most dangerous to dogs, ie. has the highest concentration of theobromine).

Here's ours - we were told a black lab/golden retriever mix, but we think she's black lab/border collie. Either way, she's the best! And yes, that is an "X" on her chest...

The first two pictures are her just as soon as we got her, the third is when she was spayed (she broke the rules and licked her stitches...) and the last is her full grown at ~50lbs.

The ridgeback is a beautiful breed.

I was flipping threw the channels the other day and came upon the westminister dog show and saw quite possible the coolest dog ever. A little too big for my taste, but very cool nevertheless. I'd love to see what they look like as a puppy.

thanks:D best breed in the world in my heavily bias opinion:D

We have ridgeback who is actually ridgeless! It happens from time to time. We got Max 2 1/2 years ago from a pound. He is the best dog I have EVER been around. I know I am biased but he is an 80lb lap dog. We just had our first baby last summer and Max is the best big brother. He lets our son grab and crawl all over him and it doesn't phase him one bit and he is more than willing to give everyone licker kisses.

I will definitely get another Rhodesian in the future. I recommend the breed to everyone. Two of my friends have since each gotten a Rhodie just because of Max. Of course a dog turns out how you raise it but I think that the ridgeback is an excellent breed.

I will post pictures when I get home.

you guys aren't helping!!! seriously though, thanks for the info., right now I have a redbone coonhound, he's 3, and would like to get him a buddy before he's 6, he's always played well with ridgebacks, and his parents really like the breed.

hi jessica
Well, she is not my wife, but we live together, and its not easy for her to live with my dog.

Believe, my puppie was like a son to me, i suffer all days

Sorry buddy, but I'll have to agree with the lady here. Women aren't worth **** compared to a dog. A dog will ALWAYS love you, ALWAYS protect you, NEVER steal your money, NEVER sleep with someone else, and NEVER make you choose between it and your woman.

A good dog is a good dog. Remember that. And next time tell your gf to not "let the door hit her in the ass on the way out."

I'll post pics of my woggy tonight.

You could very well be correct. We adopted her from the humane society, and thus, not knowing exactly what breeds her parents were, we don't know for sure. Beagle/German Shepherd were both guesses from the humane society and our vet

This is a very cute thread, but it makes me sad, too. This is my dog when he was considerably older than a puppy and all dressed up for Christmas (yes, that's an ornament hanging from his scarf). He was half shepard, half collie, and he died last november. I still miss him. :(

That's a really beautiful dog. I'm sorry she died.

There are a lot of really beautiful (and cute) dogs and puppies on here.

My dog is a German Shepherd/Husky mix as well - she's going to be 13 this summer and she's still in pretty good shape. Yes that's a keg in the background ;-)

My avatar is also find a picture of a silly little dog taht followed me up a mountain in china.

:( ... I'm not religious, but I'll send good/strong thoughts out there for him, my puppy had kennel cough at 8 weeks, it was touch and go for a while, like it seems with you, go visit him as much as you can, I think it helps that they know you are still here for them and really lifts their spirits and fight. Our dog would get excited and happy when we would go there, sometimes too excited and the vet would ask us to leave, but he pulled through, and I think it was in part because we visited him so often.

that may be for pitbulls. bulldogs are really cool dogs, they look mean but they are completely mellow and friendly dogs. pitbulls have a bad reputation for doing especially nasty things and totally shredding the people they attack.

(disclaimer: not all, but some. the breed's reputation has this stigma, as with a few other breeds, like rotweilers)

me too. our neighbors have rottweilers and while they look intimidating they are very pretty and generally cool dogs.
i just stay clear of owning breeds that have known tendencies to attack like that. plus our homeowners insurance goes up if we have one of those breeds. it's just not woth the hassle to me. <shrugs>

Wow, didn't think this thread would last! But to answer your question. Guinness was named b/c when we picked him up, he had little tan / cream bits on his ears and paws, like a freshly poured guinness (which is brown and creamy b4 settles). Since morgan is the sister, (1.5 yrs in the pick - for labs that's still a puppy) we decided to keep w/ the theme. I wanted to call her Caffree (after another irish stout, that is white when poured and blond when settled) obviously I lost that argument. The 3rd dog is Samurai my vet's six year old rottie-dane mix of which I take care. He's the worlds greatest female protection system. Nobody messes w/ a woman standing next to a rather tall 165lbs rottie.

Sorry done over-sharing.
