I am having an issue with exporting to MPEG4 out of Final Cut Express. I set the export video date rate to restrict it to 750 kbits per second with a audio rate of 64 kbits/sec/. When i go to play the video. it says it's 839 kbits per second. What's the problem with this picture? There's mire kbits/sec than there should be! What is going on here?

Have you tried exporting it out to different format and using QuickTime to export the mpeg4?
Which version of express are you using?

Within FInal Cut, I have tried the iPod setting, the Quicktime Movie MPEG4 (H.264) setting, and the MPEG-4 setting. THe last 2 give me "over sized" files. The iPod setting doesnt allow you adjust anything.
I am using Final Cut Express 3.0

I have another question. Final Cut allows you to export to both .mov and .mp4 and encode them in H.264. Is the .mov file basically a .mp4 file with a .mov extension?

The extra 25 kbps might be the hinting tracks. It's not a big deal.I have another question. Final Cut allows you to export to both .mov and .mp4 and encode them in H.264. Is the .mov file basically a .mp4 file with a .mov extension?Yes, .mov is a wrapper.
