Just ticked over to February in the Kiwi land, which has a trademark filed. Aren't we special to make the rumor news.

Too bad my iMac is in for repairs, this iBook just has a generic OS X background. But the background it did have is....damn can't find it, thought it was on interfacelift. Its that small plant growing in sand or something.

Twice in a row™

While it is 6:30AM on Jan 31st still I feel this is appropriate because my whole day yesterday was wasted backing up important files and reinstalling Tiger .

I feel your pain, hopefully the copy of Disk Warrior I pick up at the Apple Store on the way home saves my day.

Hey Moog, did you take that pic? I'd love to have a link to it. Also, where'd you get those icons?

Yep, i took that picture with my mobile phone as i was strolling along the other night :D

Truthfully, I got it from this site http://www.gigapxl.org/gallery.htm. It has some amazing photos taken with a gigapixel camera.

The icons are I got from a popular set on one of the interface web sites. Can't remember which set they were from. I'll have a look and update when I find out.

I have a 8mpixel JPEG version on with an OK compression/quality, that is 2.2MB. But I can't attach a file that big. I also uploaded it to flickr, but it seems the max resolution you can download from there is 1024x768.

Can someone tell me of a place where I can easily upload a big picture file for others to D/L?

That's funny, it was 30 here today as well. Good thing the clouds kept the sun out though, it reached 40 in Sydney - just an hour north of me.

Why you'd want to put a picture of a warm climate up on a warm 30 day I'll never understand. I've got a picture of the snow to take my mind off the heat of 30 to 40 degrees.

OK, the lure is set, let's see how many little fishies we can get today.

LOL mate. In the US, they use Fahrenheit... you're talking about celsius. 30 degrees farenheit is about -1 degrees celsius.

He put that picture of a warm day to warm up in view of their cold weather!

In the city, always a reflextion.
In the woods, always a sound.
What about the desert?
You don't want to go in the desert.
Where's the girl?
You wanted to go through the looking glass.
How was it?
Was it more fun than miniature golf?
Where is the girl?
Did you burn me?
Can't say I did.
You wanna prove it?
Well, the lord hates a coward.
Where's the girl?
I need a smoke.
You can't smoke it.
What's it gonna give me, cancer?
Smell of American tobacco carries in the desert air.
That's why you wanna stay out of the desert.
Where is the girl?
He sent me.
One man.
"One riot, one Ranger."
You ever heard that?
Leonidas, King of Sparta...
...when a neighboring state would plead for military aid, would send one man.
Well, there you go.
You ever hear that?
No. I think we went to different schools.
Where's the girl?
Look, you go home...
...some wave their hats,
some turn their backs.
It's all the same.
None of them know were you've been.
It's all the same.
You tough honey?
I think you're tough.

Oh, ok. I have my new fisheye on, so I'll give it a go in a bit.

Looking forward too it :)

Just out of interest, why do you have the default background most of the time? I also use it because its just so Apple Cool ;) But why do you use it? I thought you would be using a grey or tan color because of your digital photography.

I've always like the background. I can't deal with a busy picture in the back. :o

That's unfortunate, I really like that image. Is there anyway I could get it through email or IM?

Going through this thread again, I just realised most people have pristine desktops. Am I the only one here that uses OS X "old-school way", i.e. with loads of folders on my desktop. Or are you guys and gals just cleaning-up for this thread? :p

My Mac is always clean. I never have any icons on my desktop and my dock is filtered to include items used multiple times daily. I take great pride in my machines organization, so i can find things fast.

This is mine. The PowerBook is my own 12" taken charging in the dark on my desk. The quality isn't brilliant as my Sony camera was a bit faulty.

All I do on my mac is surf the web, iTunes, and IM. So I don't really need a lot of folders on my desktop. But I did hide some .dmgs in my screenshot so it would look pretty :p.

..And having a lot of icons on your desktop slows OS X down, doesn't it?

I refuse to have a messy desktop. Mine is always pretty clean unless doing a major music download session or a some type of graphic work, but i clean it up immediately afterwards.

Desktop is usually nice and clean, I don't like to leave too many icons floating around unless I am really crunching for a deadline (then all sense of order goes to he!! . . .) However my Documents folder generally looks pretty ugly . . .

Here's my Powerbook's desktop. Normally it's a mess. "Post Your Desktop" threads are typically the only time it's clean. And I can guarantee you that if I wasn't going to bed after submitting this post, it would be messy again in 5 minutes ;)

Nice pun, huh? :p

Can't remember where I got it from here (http://interfacelift.com/icons-mac/) about 2 years ago (formely www.xicons.org). If anybody knows a way to send it, I can do that. Whereever it came from, it was free. :)

no idea what is going on in this image but i liked it, so here it is.

Almost looks like a dentist poster. The bottle of pop chasing a tooth to take a bite out of it.

More befitting of my name here on MR I suppose.

Changed mine since I'm getting back into WoW again.

I only have a few folders, files on my desktop when I'm working on a little project otherwise I keep it clean. It go nuts if the Desktop is cluttered with folders/files/icons. I do spent a great deal of time cleaning and organizing my files for fast access and to minimize the clutter.

Nice Nathan, on the way too the shuttle launch?
It was somewhere on I-4, so it was either:

(a) on the way to the hotel after picking up tickets
(b) on the way to the astronaut museum after the launch
(c) on the way from the astronaut museum back to the hotel
(d) on the way to Clearwater
(e) on the way from clearwater to Orlando
(f) in transit to/from Univ. Studios
(g) on the way to VA from Orlando

It was taken on 8/2/05 at 6:12:42 PM.. so you decide.

My desktop is an utter mess when I'm working on photo's, there's files and folders all over the place. It's also my default download destination where I can use files before deciding what to do with them. I set up a Finder plug-in with Automator to move every file into its proper place on my hard drive, be it music, movies, photo's, .dmg files etc. and I have another to clean up files I've been working on which archives all my images and imports the finished images into iPhoto so a clean desktop is never more than 2 clicks away :D (well, 4 clicks technically... and I guess I have to hold down ctrl twice too :p )

Heres mine (after a couple of clicks), the wallpaper is a shot I took of a train station where I work.

I've been redefining my powerbook as a true notebook. In that I mainly just take notes on it now. It's trim, it's slim, and it has a picture of someone dear to me on it too :)
