Yes, just enable disk use in iTunes and drag text files into the notes folder on the iPod. Make sure the files are .txt files.

You might have to split the larger file up - I think the maximum size for a text note on the iPod is 4K.

If you want to do large files, such as books, you'll need to break them up into smaller documents. I think a it can only display around 1000 characters per document.

Is the note folder just supposed to show up after I enable disk use? Because I don't see it.

Yup; enable Disk Use, then navigate to your iPod using the Finder (or Windows Explorer...) and there is a 'notes' folder there.

If its not there, I wonder if you can add it and it will still work?
