Hi I am trying to buy a replacement battery for my G4 Powerbook, and retailers keep asking me what model number my machine is. One guy said they usually start with an M ie M870 etc......How do I find this out??

My old battery is an A1060, but cant find how to replace it.

Cheers

Take your battery out and look inside the bay. It should be on a sticker inside the bay.

Does System Profiler also provide this info? I'm at work on a PC, so I cannot check right now :(

You can get the information (and the battery, if you want) from OWC (http://macsales.com). They let you pick a battery by specs instead of model numbers, but they also have compatibility charts that link to archived Apple tech spec pages that include the model numbers.

You might want to think about blanking out your serial number

If youre talking about the sales order number, mine does not show that either.

Yeah, I was laughing too. I was going to quote you, but then the SN would show again :D
