Not bad considering the cheapest 512 MB USB pen drive I can find is $27 + shipping!

...Not to mention the 1GB Nano is just a buck-fifty, which is what my 1GB Shuffle cost brand new when they first came out. I hope this isn't a going-out-of-business sale for the Shuffle.
I'm actually a Shuffle fan, even though the poor thing gets regularly crapped on by the feature Nazis (No Sceen! <snicker>). I like the fact that it is very rugged and simple.
Plus, the fact that it DOESN'T need USB 2.0 makes it usable by older Macs.

Does the shuffle come with the same earphones as the more expensive iPods? I need to replace the earbuds that came with my 3G anyway, so for a few bucks more it might be worth buying a refurbished 512Mb shuffle. Thoughts?

Yep, my son uses his iPod video with a Cube and USB 1.1, no problem.
IJ, yes, same headphones. My shuffle's phones are identical to my son's.

That's cool, I've only ever had a shuffle to play with so I was going by what the Apple Store says for sys reqs. I wonder if there is some reduced functionality with USB 1.1, or not?

Great, thanks -- order placed! Added a set of Griffin TuneClips for $12.95 and got free shipping too. Such a deal!

likewise. at that price, as a flash drive with free headphones it's already a bargain, as a go anywhere (even thru the wash apparently) iPod it's a steal.

I think my "big" iPod will be spending a lot more time at home. For a long time I've wanted an iPod to use in the car that I wasn't so paranoid about losing to a thief.

it's the toilet and the sink that bother me. lost two phones that way  i love the fact that if you drop the Shuffle the headphone jack holds and providing you have strong ears so do the buds, pulling it up short of the floor (or worse).
Now if only mine would come back from the repair shop (not my fault this time, honest) i could resume my affair.

I picked one up for 50 bucks. It's my first refurb purchase. I can't pass up a iPod shuffle for 50 bucks. That's a steal! I'll use it for mowing the lawn and doing outside chores this summer.

I would assume the transfer is slow, and to charge the iPod you'd need to buy a USB Power Adapter.

Did you order it with a side or rear grass bagger? :D

No refurbs in the British Store. Anyone feel like picking me up a refurb and shipping it to London for me? Could pay by paypal.....

Nope you can charge over USB 1.1, just not through the keyboard...

I ordered my refurbished shuffle from Apple late yesterday afternoon with free ground shipping -- and it will arrive today, according to UPS! Talk about instant gratification!

It slices! It dices!
I've got to admit, your line about using the shuffle to cut the grass conjured up quite an image in my muddled brain!

Yeah. I think I'm going to buy a 1GB Shuffle. I'll still have tune options at the times/places I don't want to be carrying my 60GB precioussss. And I'm curious if I'll be able to discern the supposedly better bass response.

I'm close the buying a 1Gb shuffle now. I have a 1st gen 5Gb iPod... but it rarely gets used just because it's kind of bulky and I don't feel like carrying it around. I think I'd use a Shuffle a lot more. That 1Gb Nano is tempting too though.. :D

Question:
My shuffle arrived yesterday (the day after ordering it -- thank you Apple!). My problem is, I keep all of my music on my 15Gb 3G iPod. The shuffle is set up to select music only from an iTunes music library or playlists set up in iTunes. I'm looking for a convenient method of copying music from the 3G to the shuffle, short of copying all of the music from my 3G to the Mac. Any ideas?
