Hey everyone,
Looking to get an older Mac desktop to play around with, but I don't want to go earlier than a B&W G3. I don't want to spend too much money, so probably a ~400Mhz or older Powermac G4...any B&W.
I could possibly offer the clamshell iBook in my signature as a trade. It runs Tiger great. It's in acceptable condition (some scratches/marks on bottom), except that the CD drive doesn't stay closed, but a tiny piece of tape fixes that. I'll be happy to show you it over my iChat video if you'd like.

I also have a full 350Mhz Yikes setup, here are the specs:
Powermac G4 (PCI Graphics),
350Mhz G4
896MB RAM
120GB 7200RPM 8MB cache
Combo Drive (brand new from apple)
ATI Rage 128 16MB
OS X Tiger 10.4.4
Now, if you wanted, I could remove some RAM, and remove the hard drive (and replace with a 10GB) to lower the price. Tell me what you think

I got a B&W G3 machine. I'll sell to ya cheap, but I dunno when I can send out the item. I'm looking for a replacement for it right now. I prolly can send it out by the end of next week and it'll prolly cost ya $135 boxed, paypaled, and shipped? I'll give ya the specs on it when I find my replacement. LoL

Hmm...I would need to know more (like you said). You're looking for a replacement what? Machine or some part for it? I would really like to hear the specs...
Maxwell - I think I have a HD for it (from a new-ish PC, that'll work right?), so that's no problem. How is the RAM config in there...give me a chip breakdown...probably 384 or 512 would be OK.

Sure no prob. It has
512MB PC133 (shows up as 256 due to logic board limitation)
256MB PC133
256MB PC133
128MB PC133

How much for it with 1) 256MB and no HD, 2) 512MB and no HD, 3) 256MB with 10GB, 4) 512MB with HD?

Maxwell Smart: Thanks for the great offer via AIM, but I really think I'm looking for something cheaper just to mess around with. A B&W is probably more what I'm after...maybe a low-spec one even that I can upgrade.

I know, thanks. Looking for something from someone on here, not from a company (doesn't hurt to show me, though I've already looked at most of the used mac places).

I have a G4 400 (Yikes), 13GB HD, 512MB RAM, CD. Nice shape, one of the inner door latches is broken, but it closes and looks just fine. I'll sell for $200 shipped.
I also have an iMac DV, G3 400, 13GB HD, 512MB, DVD. Very good condition. I'l sell for $170 shipped.
Both have 10.4 on them.

i would edit your post, because if you are putting a fresh copy of tiger, you have to include the disks, which i doubt you have 2 sets for. the mods will edit this if you don't, just a heads up/

Fresh was meant as an adjective. ;)
Like cool, or rad, or tight.
Thanks.

Just an update, Maxwell Smart and I have worked out a trade deal and we'll both be shipping shortly. I no longer need one of these, thanks!
