Mail Help

I feel like an idiot asking but I can't figure it out...

When I would click on an email in the Mail app it would automatically mark it as read and the bottom half of the mail screen would be an email preview. I liked that feature. Somehow I turned it off. Now I have to double click each email to mark it as read and I lost the preview. How do I get my old preference back?

Do you see the little dot in at the bottom of the screen? It's sort of in the center. Drag that up.

You can also double-click the dot to open and close the lower (preview) pane.
