Glad to hear that Mac sales are up in France! In education and just in general, Apple has to make up a lot of ground in France. It's interesting that desktop sales are up so much. I guess the iMac and Mac mini must be big hits indeed.

But still, we have to keep things in perspective--Apple went from 2.2% marketshare to 2.6%, so the "big gains" are a lot less impressive than they sound at first, at least to me. It's still cool though that France is joining the Mac revolution (or at that rate, evolution?! :p).

I'm surprised the article didn't mention/suggest a possible iPod halo effect. I don't think they're quite as popular as in the US, but still.

Off topic, but years ago when I was in Paris at the Centre Georges Pompidou, they had a G3 iMac on display as part of their modern French artists/designers exhibit. I thought that was pretty cool.

.4% may not seem big, but it's a nearly 20% increase for Apple France, and probably amounts to at least several thousand more units being sold.

The first line does state that it's a 37% increase. So if Apple doubled its sales that would amount to about 1.2% market share increase. That seems like an awful lot of work for such a small payoff.
