hey guys,
i recently bought a 3G ipod and realise that i may be able to get it replaced by apple with the battery replacement thing, where they replace the whole thing. Does any one know about this or have any experience with this?

Cheers for any help

This (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/battery/) is what you want... Apple will replace the battery (i.e. the whole thing) if it's run down for $59 plus shipping.

I bought one of those 3rd party batteries for my 3G. The construction quality was appauling (obviously done by hand), but it works fine. $20 or so. I get a reasonable play time now. I was lucky to get 2 hours before.

so when you send your ipod off, do they replace the whole thing, or just the battery?

They replace the whole thing if you do it through Apple.

So far so good. Seems to work just fine. I think I spent $22 on on www.batteryship.com. If it's a bomb, I'll post that, too.

They just drop a refurbished unit into the box and re-engrave the back then send it off to you.

I guess that's a good thing since everything is also newer.
