Problem with Powerpoint:mac

On my 1GB memory, iMac G5, EVERY TIME i open a slideshow on powerpoint i get the spinning beach ball for about 15-20 seconds before i can proceed. all other applications continue to function as normal, but powerpoint has this perpetual glitch.

If I were using windows (as i did for my whole life until recently), i would shrug and accept the small delay. but i've come to expect perfection from mac os X, so this glitch kinda irks me.

any ideas?

Do you have Flip4Mac installed, along with DivX or 3ivX? :)

hmm yes i think i have all of those installed... does that matter?

They don't play nicely with Office. It got to the point where my Office apps wouldn't even open eventually. I ended up deleting DivX and 3ivX (using uninstallers) and it's since been snappy. :)
