i'm patiently awaiting my macbook pro to get here, and while i'm waiting, i've ordered a new messenger bag and a laptop sleeve to keep the laptop in when i go to school or to a cafe etc......

heres my question. seeing as most people don't turn off their macs, if i'm putting the laptop in a sleeve, AND in a messenger bag, is it smart to put it to sleep? is there any danger of damage to anything? would it get too hot?

i ordered a foofbag (http://www.foofbag.com/)for the sleeve, so i just don't know if i should turn it off all the time. any tips? i'd rather leave it on....

Putting to sleep is perfectly safe. The only thing that it does is run a trickle of electricity to RAM, so there's no chance of anything overheating or being damaged (the hard drive stays spun down).

I leave my sleeping PB 17" in my backpack sleeve for days at a time. I wouldn't worry about it.
