The new AlBooks have been fitted with the new superdrives from pioneer. I found the spec for the new 17" to include a 2x superdrive. what is the speed for the 12" AlBook and if it is slower can you max it out with a firmware upgrade? I heard somewhere that they had deliberately reduced some of the recording speeds because the firmware wasnt stable enough to run at higher speeds. Any comments?

And finally...my e-mail from MCE, which offers a superdrive upgrade for previous powerbooks with 2x DVD-R speed...in other words full potential. Here's what they said:
Unfortunately we have no firmware upgrade to make the unit burn faster. In
prelim tests we were getting 2X burn speeds
but at this time the specs are
subject to change. We apologize for ambiguous answer.
