How to disable one core of the CoreDuo?

why would you want to do that?

Probably using the CHUD tools available as an install with XCode.

You need to install the processor tools, CHUD. They should be on the OS X Tiger CD. It'll add an extra 'processor' option to the system preferences view where you can change the number of cores used. You can also get an added icon next to the clock with a drop down menu on turning off a core should you want it.
