Free 1GB iPod Nano or $200 for 30GB iPod?

Ok, so Apple Australia have a "Buy a bundle, save a bundle" (aka Cram and Jam) offer on at the moment. I can get a $200 rebate on any iPod and Mac purchase. The Mac part is taken care of, now I just need to decide about the iPod part. Should I get a 1GB Nano for free (seeing as they cost $196) or should I spend $200 and get a 30GB iPod? I can't decide. What would you do?
 
30GB ipod for sure. If you have more than 1GB of music, you'll probably find it a pain to have to select your tracks constantly. I would anyway. Ipod is a bit bigger, but not massive and its easy to take around with you.
 
Although the Flash-based nano is much better for the active lifestyle. As a rule, it'll last longer and it won't skip. 😎
 
Yeah, I think I'm leaning towards the Nano - I just like the idea of getting something for free. 😱 Then again, the bigger screen and storage of the iPod is also very appealing.

I hate making decisions.
 
My desicion was based on how much music I have. I couldn't fit it all on a Nano. But like Mad jew said, if you're going to be very active get the Nano.
 
I never did this myself, but you can use a belkin attachment to record lectures. I don't think the Nano's can do it. (correct me if I'm wrong)
 
I go to the gym a couple of times a week to do Body Pump, so I won't really need it for that seeing as the class is to music. Other than that, I'm not all that active 😱 (perhaps getting the nano will change that).

As for recording lectures, most of our uni lectures are recorded and available for d/l anyway - it's something to keep in mind though.

The idea of getting something free is appealing. But like previously mentioned, it depends on how much music you have. For me though the biggest factor besides amount of music is: Will you use the video feature? It really depends on I think if you want the video iPod for video, but you haven't mentioned that yet, only how it has more storage. So I think you should get the free nano based on what you've said so far.
 
Yeah, video would be nice, but I don't think I'd use it all that much. Especially considering we can't d/l any tv shows from iTunes here yet (well not legally anyway). I think that Nano's looking like the way to go.
 
I want to be in the market for a new iPod but I don't have the money at the moment. I've had a good think about it though and just can't figure out what I'd need more:

1. A 4GB iPod nano and a big-arse external hardrive for my music, videos, photos and movies. Swap songs to and from the nano when I feel like it.

2. A 60GB iPod - watch videos on the go (don't really know where, I feel sick just looking at the screen on my iPod 3G for too long in a car or a bus so I'd be violently ill after a short film) but it would be cool when going off to sleep to be able to just watch an episode of M*A*S*H or something, TV's always make me sleepy.

I just got a Moto L6 and love the slim form factor, it's got me lusting after the 1GB nano (only one I can even remotely afford) to replace my shuffle or mini as my regular iPod - the 3G is currently relegated to being my stationary jukebox.


Oh for a serious cash influx.

I wonder if department stores like Myer give education discounts, because then I could get my staff discount on top of that...

Off topic:
I've been looking at a new phone too, my old one's on the way out. 🙁 How do you find the UI on the Moto? I like the way it looks but I've used my dad's RAZR and I can't say I was too impressed.
 
Actually, throw the whole idea out the bloody window.

I just read some of the fine print, discovering that the Mac and iPod purchase have to be on the same receipt.

Just wanted to share my experience. My roommate and I each got a Razr. While mine hasn't had any problems he will be returning his for the 3rd time. The first time the keys stopped working. The second time the keys would never light up. And this time it's a little of both. Luckily we got ours for free for extending our contract, but I don't think I would recommend buying one. They aren't really all that great.
 
that is very unfortunate about the ipod. I'm surprised the let you out of the store without telling you. those bums. but on a brighter side, if they have packages set up for free ipods that only means...

(right before the nanos came out they were giving away minis with computer purchases)
 
Get a 4 GB nano if possible. The nano is definitely my favourite iPod ever (I own a 2nd gen too). Its small and light and has a great screen, and I dont care about video. And who really needs 20 days of music on their iPod without access to computer? 2-3 days is enuff. Falsh is much better than HD.

Yeah I would get the Nano, but read my previous post. I can't get the rebate because the products won't be on the same receipt seeing as the Mac has already been purchased.
