Amazon MBP 1.83 availability and shipping

As far as I know, NO ONE who ordered a MBP 1.83 from Amazon has received it yet, and EVERYONE who did get MBP from Amazon ordered the 2.0 version.

So, if you ordered a MBP 1.83 from Amazon, please answer the following:
1. When did you order?
2. Did you receive your order yet?
3. If not, what are your estimated ship/delivery dates)?

This is so that we can have some fodder when we talk (read as 'complain') to Amazon reps about how late our order is.

Any thoughts on why Amazon was able to ship 2.0's but not 1.83's?

My guess is that amazon is getting their first batch of 1.83s this coming week. 1.83 was delayed for apple too, 2.0 came out a week before. So I would guess the spacing out will apply to resellers too. Since 2.0 started shipping about a week ago (last Sunday), I would expect 1.83's to start shipping from a couple of days time. At least I hope so...

The price at MacMall is decent (esp. with the free case) but the website says 2-3 weeks (and they charge for shipping). What a bummer!

My mac mall rep says all backordered items will be shipped this week and they received 10,000 computers. He said they had something like 340+ pre orders, no break down between 1.83 and 2.0 though.

I just cancelled my MBP 1.83 with Amazon. MacConnection has stock of MBP 2.0G and ship NOW. I ordered from them. Same offers with Amazon: No Sales Tax and $150 rebate (last day: 3/31).

Thats what the sales rep told me. They obviously got something, my order that was scheduled for the 17th has moved from backordered to in process and will probably ship tonite or tomorrow.

I guess you missed last week when Amazon shipped a bunch of MBP 2.0's.

i got the 2.0 last week but got buyer's remorse ($2000 is a stretch for me, another $500 was an impulse that I should have resisted). So, I sold my 2.0 (at a slight profit) and am waiting for a 1.83.

i called their customer service today to ask abut my 1.83 order I put in on January 18. The lady I spoke with confirmed that they had received a few 1.83 and they had laready been sent out to people ahead of me in the que. I asked where I was but she couldn't or wanted not tell.
They will receive two more batches in the next week or so.
hopefully I will get it before the 20th which is my curretn ship date.

My guess is that it will ship today (3/10). Two business days would be Tuesday (3/14). Good luck!

I think so. 3/20. Still "Shipping Soon". I live right by the Amazon warehouse, so I'm hoping that I'll get it on Monday. (Most Super Saver Shipping orders arrive next day for me).

Yes, I got my shipping notice. Looks like I'll get it Tuesday. Personally, I'm glad I bought the 1.83. The extra $500 will go a long way towards accessories, more RAM in particular.

hi, i'm new here, first post, first mac (soon.......) .....just giving you all some hope and/or more confusion on shipping from amazon on the macbook 1.83 ......i ordered mine on february 28th, and i had a ship date of MAY 8.....i messed with changing the shipping speed etc, and i got it moved up to MAY 3, but nothing more than that.........yesterday, i called amazon to tell them i might cancel because apparently club mac was getting in a shipment on the 17th of march, and the csr told me that there was already a macbook "on hold" for me, and that it would probably ship on march 20th when they got in their next batch, and to ignore my ship date.........THEN, i checked my account a few hours later, and it had changed to "shipping soon", but it still said MAY 3........i checked my bank account, and amazon had charged me the full $1999 yesterday...........i called amazon AGAIN this morning, and the csr told me that even though my ship date still says may 3 and the last csr told me that it might ship march 20th, that they have my macbook in stock and that it will probably ship out monday morning, march 13th !?!?!?!? .......anyone else in a similar situation???? i must have sounded stunned to the last csr i spoke to, so he repeatedly assured me that it was in stock and would be shipped out to me monday............should i trust him, or am i getting my hopes up??? ............thanks for your input, i'm looking foward to my first mac and since i wasn't expecting it until may, i'm getting a little excited..............-----------sandi, confused newbie

I found the reply quite annoying. In effect, they say that pre-ordering doesn't put you on a "list" to get the device! So, what does it do?

That is quite annoying. I would try calling them. Maybe you can get them to give you a discount "for your troubles". It's a lot harder to deny a voice than an email.

yeah, super saver.......the last csr guy i talked to said i should have it this week......we'll see, maybe there will be an update for me tomorrow, but for now, it just says 'shipped', but no other info........

as for the other guy with his recent emails from amazon---------i was going to just wait until may when mine was supposed to ship until i got an email from clubmac saying they'd have them on the 17th of march-------when i called amazon to tell them i was going to cancel and get it from club mac, that's when all the shipping stuff started to happen magically-----literally an hour later, my credit card was charged for the computer, and one day later i got the email from amazon saying it shipped on the 11th--------maybe if you just call like i did they'd do the same for you---------no one told me they were speeding up my order, but i think it's a pretty big coincidence that my order status changed and then it supposedly shipped right after i made the phone call telling them i was about to cancel. --------sandi

again, you should really call, like i said i ordered mine on feb 27th with a ship date of MAY 3rd, and after two polite phone calls (i didn't even complain, just asked some questions) my macbook shipped and should be here in two days-----and i still had the free shipping......---------sandi, two days away from her first mac :)

This is getting irritating since the other girl I talked to last week confirmed that a small number had been sent out and When the next shipment came in it would hit my order.

I ordered on 1/18. I did order a second 1.83 on 3/9 and got an expected ship date of 3/10 for it. But, back on 1/18, the 1.83 was $1995 (I know, it's only $5 but to me, $5 is $5). So I tried changing something on my original order (I added a free gift message). Maybe it was coincidence, but within an hour, my credit card was charged and I couldn't change the order. Thankfully, I was still able to cancel the second order.

Today I complained that my pre-order from Jan 18 had still not shipped.
Got upgraded to one day shipping for free, but since I already have prime on trial it was only worth $4.
After that I tested to order a second one and lo and behold, (!) got the exact same ship date! March 23-30!

It does not pay to pre-order with them I am seriously considering cancelling and re-ordering in order not to mess up my rebate....
