A friend of mine needs to convert her AAC's into MP3 - what's the best way of doing this in one huge batch?

If they are not protected iTunes will do it very nicely for you. Set MP3 as the import settings. Then just highlight the songs to convert and chose Advanced->Convert selection to MP3. Wait as iTunes converts it all.

That said, if she has the original CDs I highly recommend re-ripping them as it will give her better quality at the same bit rate/size.

of course, we're assuming this has nothing to do with the fact that its easier to distribute these files as mp3s. piracy is wrong.

but yes, itunes will do it for you. if theyre protected AACs, however, you have a few options- burn to CD and re-rip, or find some software on versiontracker or google to strip out the DRM, then convert to mp3 (I dont condone this; circumventing DRM technology is technically illegal).
