I don't know how many people would be comfortable posting their location.

i have a question about google earth by the way: does it work offline? haven't tried and want to know.

most people are fine with posting where they live.
theyre not posting theyre adress or anything, just your neighbourhood etc.

I live out in the sticks, so there are no hi-res pictures of my house/city/county. But if there were, I'd post them.
