What's the difference between multi-zone focus and center-zone focus?

Center zone only focuses using what is within the center "circle" or whatever your ground glass has on it.

So if you autofocus and the object is NOT in the center, it might not be in focus because the AF only looks in the center. So you would have to focus on the object, hold the AF and then compose the shot.

With a multi zone, it takes the average of usually 4 "zones" around the frame.
