Most of the ripping out and installing ram was on the TiBook. I actually had the iMac for about 5 days with only 512MB ram so I tried to get all the tests done then and I redid them all with the extra gig. The funny thing is that unless an app has crashed I don't see any SPODs now I have 1.5GB but I had LOADS with 512MB.

Nice review. I hope once most apps. become UB that you will do another review on the 17" iMac as most people that want to switch to an iMac the 17" fits the bill for them ;)
Enjoy your new iMac :D

In all honesty it isn't too bad performance wise, but then again I've spent quite a long time on slow macs. Over the past seven years I've had to live on a 400MHz iMac, 500MHz iBook and for a few months I had my 800MHz TiBook as my main machine so it's nice to have a brand new machine, but it also helps that I'm not used to apps going that fast.
Out of the 31 apps in my dock 18 of them are universal and the rest run just fine so things aren't too bad in terms of apps working. If you are looking to buy a new Mac soon I don't really see any problems holding you back from buying an Intel mac (unless you want an iBook or Powermac ;) )
