SD 256mb card error

so i let my gf borrow my Panasonic DMC FZ30 camera with my SD 256mb flash card...she uses it and it works fine..but then it just stops working and displays a MEMORY CARD ERROR PLEASE CHECK CARD
how can i fix this?

she has a pc and i got a wonderful mac
so when i connect it to my usb, it wont even read it...

any ideas?

Reformat the card in the camera. Probably will straighten it out.

When you got this error, you had your card in your memory card reader, right? If you plug it into your camera, does it work?

well my gf had it in her computer, the readers outside the HP machines...then she puts it back into the camera and it says the error...i tried formating it, but it just wont budge...and i plugged my camera into my mac via usb with the card inside and it just wont appear on my mac...

any ideas still?
