More or less, Jobs just had 10 million shares vest, and he sold just enough of them to the pay the taxes on all of them. If he hadn’t sold any, he’d have had to pay about $300 million in taxes out of his pocket.

We know how skinny pockets can be on jeans. Steve probably doesn't usually carry around that sort of cash.

the irs has a group of people and a dedicated computer to do gates' taxes. i read it in a wall street article a few months ago.
