...And a Google Image Search brought me to a page that opened so many popups so quickly that it hard crashed Safari (I couldn't click anything for 5 minutes). :rolleyes:

Even while I couldn't do anything, the sound clip from one of the popups kept playing. He explained that, because I had stayed up so incredibly late at night (4:30 in the afternoon), that I had won several free Micro-iPods. :D

I just can't imagine what people who don't have pop-up blockers think of the internet...:eek:

Is it just me or does it seem like some websites automatically disable the pop-up blocker in Safari (or I mean in other words toggle it off when you visit their websites), or somehow bypass the pop-up blocker anyway? Sometimes I feel like even with the pop up blocker on I still get a good amount of pop ups from certain websites, and it's almost like Safari's protection has either been bypassed or toggled off.

Maybe I'm just paranoid.

Actually, a few times I've noticed the Pop-Up Blocker has been toggled off and I *DEFINITELY* didn't disable it myself as I want it on all the time. I always assumed it was a bug

Some pop up creators(?) have worked out how to bypass the pop up blocker in Safari and Firefox.

Press ESC repeatedly, this sometimes stops rapid pop ups.

[Option]+[Command]+[W] close all windows

A great program is Ambrosia's Escape Pod (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/freebies/) not to be confused with MetaMage's (http://www.metamagecorp.com/) program of the same name (used for iPods). Escape Pod (http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/freebies/) allows one to terminate the formost application with [Control]+[Alt]+[Del].

If you use ONYX (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20070), Main Menu (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/25902) or Mac Sweeper (http://www.macsweeper.cjb.net/) you might inadvertently be resetting Safari and removing it's settings.

Love Camino. I love the way you can also block web advertising when you want. There are some websites that are so packed with flashing and moving ad images, it's enough to give you a epileptic fit. One visit to Preferences later and the site is as clean as the front of an iMac.

(P.S. Please don't lecture me on web adverts being necessary to keep sites running. I only turn them off on the sites that go overboard.)

Yeah, never got a popup ever. Works very well, and when I used to use finder I didn't get any either. Course in both I never turned it off.
