Alright, so I posted a few weeks ago about an iBook I would like to sell. I got a number of offers, but when it came down to business, the buyers apparently stopped checking their PM's. With that in mind, I am going to try again, and I now also have a small assortment of other stuff I might as well try to sell.
iBook SOLD. Thanks 4JNA! Another great buyer with quick payment. You people rock my world
Item the second, a Palm Zire - the original model. Comes with power and USB cords, but no software or anything (though if it turns up, I will include that, too), but that should be available on Palm's website. Asking $30 + shipping.
Hunting Jacket SOLD. Thanks Genomez! Great buyer; prompt payment.
Fourth item is a Viewsonic VG710s 17" LCD monitor. Highly rated monitor, and I don't recall there being any dead pixels (if people are interested, I will hook it back up and check). Comes with power cord, vga cable, and audio cord (it has built-in speakers). Asking $250 + shipping.
---------------- The following are feelers only. ------------------
Approximately one-month-old blue Nintendo DS running v4 firmware. Bought it while my wife was in the hospital to give me something to do, but am not using it as much as expected. Great shape (it should be at just about a month old). Comes with everything you get in a new box, including the box. Has an almost fully unlocked version of Mariokart DS, and a copy of Animal Crossing: Wild World that I played once just to see what it was like. Just wondering what people would pay.
15gb iPod (first version with the four buttons above the scroll wheel). It's in fairly good shape, but definitely not mint. Battery is probably around 6 hours or so. Comes with dock and wired remote BUT NOT THE ORIGINAL APPLE HEADPHONES. I have some Philips headphones I can include if I need to. I used to use this thing all the time, but since getting out of school it is not getting nearly as much love as it once did. Again, interested in what people think about this one, though I MAY have particular interest in "downgrading" to a nano. Thinking $130 is my asking price for this.
For some of this, I may be interested in trades, but we will have to see. If someone were looking to trade a modern system of some sort, I would think about throwing my Mac Mini into the mix, as well. It's the 1.42ghz variety with 512mb RAM, combo drive, APE, BT, and an 80gig HD. Just something to think about.
Pictures of everything are available if there is serious interest. Feel free to make reasonable offers, but I would appreciate it if the habitual lowballers steered clear. And offer your trades unto me (you never know what will strike my fancy). You can get me by posting here, through PMs, by email, or on AIM.
Thanks for your time.

I foolishly forgot to mention the screen size of the iBook, so that is fixed. I also indicated the amount of video memory. I am pretty sure the video card was made by ATI

I guess 3G is correct. I did not remember the version number, so what I was trying to say it was from the revision where they made the switch to the ones with the four buttons on top.
Pictures will be along after dinner :D

Here are pics of the front and back of the iPod. Those things are tricky to get with the digital! If you need more/better pics, I'll see what I can do. Ditto if anyone wants pics of some of the other stuff.

Alright, so a few people have been asking me what sorts of things I might be interested in trading for. I hadn't really given it too much thought before (sometimes you just see something that strikes your fancy), but I have come up with a few things. This is not an all-inclusive list, nor does an offer of any of these things guarantee you a trade.
- A 4gig iPod Nano. Preferably black.
- An Apple Powerbook or iMac. For these, we would be looking at me trading my Mac Mini, the monitor, and maybe the iBook with the dead HD (or a similar sort of deal, maybe with a bit more stuff like the iPod). I would really only be interested in a 12" or 15" Powerbook with a clockspeed somewhere around that of the Mini, or one of the G5 iMacs (I would, of course, also go for an Intel Mac, and would think about one of the iLamp iMacs if the deal were right). If the HD in the iMac were 250gigs or better, I would also have a 120gig Lacie external drive I could throw in, but that would have to ship after I had a chance to back up the files on it.
- A name brand, decent size LCD TV that could double as a computer monitor. In the event someone has one of these they would like to trade, I also have a Samsung 172x I might be able to part with.
That's most of what I can think of off the top of my head, but I might still be up for other stuff. Just thougth I would put some ideas out there.
Thanks.
<edit>
I can't spell.

<edit #2>
Removed the reference to a T-Mobile phone. There is a possibility that I will not need to deal with getting a phone on my own, so I no longer have the desire to trade for something that may end up being totally unneeded. Sorry for that.

Would you be willing to sell the 512 stick of RAM from the iBook seperately?

I would prefer not to part out the iBook, but if I really don't get much interest I would think about it. If I were to do that, I could sell the RAM, airport card, battery, power cord, LCD, etc, so we will just have to wait and see.
Just out of curiosity, what is the best way to ship a stick of RAM without frying it? Anyone know?

Get one of those anti-static bags and wrap it up in there. Then wrap that up in some bubble wrap (they even make anti-static bubble wrap but it is kinda pricey). You should be good to go then.

Ok, a few things...
1) I edited the OP to indicate screen size, because somehow that escaped me when I was writing the description
2) Would it be possible to get more information on these static bags ie: where to get them?
3) Due to an offer I have been made, I must now give even more thought to selling the Mac Mini I mentioned before. Specs are:
1.42ghz g4 processor
512 MB Apple-branded RAM
32MB VRAM (ATI Radeon 9200)
80GB HD
combo drive
APE and BT
(am I forgetting anything?)
The Mini is, sadly, just over a year old, so it is no longer covered by AppleCare. It is, however, it perfect condition, and has never given me any indication of hardware issues.
Please make offers for this, either in the thread or by PM, both with and/or separate from the monitor mentioned in the OP (or higher offers if you would prefer the Samsung 172x - a truly beautiful monitor, though I must tell you that there is one stuck pixel in the bottom right quadrant).
Thanks for sticking around!
ps - No one interested in the hunting parka? It looks really nice as best as I can tell. Ok, so it's not like the lack of interest on really is a big shocker

Alright, here come some pics. More are available as needed, but I thought I would at least put some out there.
Just because you don't see it in a picture, doesn't mean it isn't included. If you have questions about something, ask!
Sorry about the blurriness of the Palm pic. Also, it has a little rubber cover thing, but you can't see it in that pic. The iBook is supposed to be showing you (and you can barely see it) that its HD is shot.

Magically, the iBook works when booted from a different HD. :D

Viewsonic monitor and the scuff I just made on it getting it out to take pics of. Opps :o
You can use the dock to get an idea for the scale of my mistake - it's not dreadfully big or anything.

If you have ever bought anything like a PCI card or a hard drive, then you probably have one. They are typically gray or pink. If you go to CompUSA or something like that and ask them if they carry anti-static bags, they'd probably have them.

Alright, so everything is still available at the moment. If you feel that my asking price on something is too high, toss a PM my way and let's chat. Feel free to propose package deals. If you're interested in unloading your Powerbook or iMac, I'm interested in swapping my Mac Mini.
I'm open to a lot of things, but let's get some dialogue going here! I have only sold a couple things on these boards, but you can ask JGruber (my most recent buyer) how I am as a seller. I think he will tell you that I am very easy and flexible, that I am all about transparency in my dealings, and that I am readily available to discuss the intricacies of your purchase if you have any questions about anything once it is in your posession).
So yeah, everyone needs to magically become interested in my stuff now. You know you want to buy (or trade for) all of it! :D :D

How much for the iPod?
That part was in the "feeler" section, so I was hoping you would tell me ;)
How about we start at $180 (the approximate cost of a gently-used 4gig Nano, and I mentioned trading for a Nano earlier), and work from there? (This price was lowered from $200 after a bit of research) PM if you're actually interested, and we can try to figure it out.
<edit>
After doing a bit of looking, I have found that a replacement battery (that lasts even longer than the original battery) for the 3g iPod can be had for about $25 on OWC - including the tools needed to intall it. While the battery on this iPod still gets pretty close to what it got new, I realize that battery life is a concern for many people. With that in mind, I am taking $20 off the price I quoted above (not $25 because you would be getting extra battery life with the new one), and I would begin discussions at $180.

Your asking way too much for the iBook. You could get a higher spec refurb with a 90 day warranty and a working hard drive for that price. You'de probably be better off parting it out. If you decide to, I'm interested in the airport card.

Could you please direct me to where I could get a better iBook with a 3 month warranty for that price? That is not me being condecending - I am genuinely curious (I never seem to be good at finding these things). Also, please PM with what you would be interested in paying for the Airport card, since it is becoming more and more likely that I will end up tearing this thing to pieces... Unless someone buys the other stuff I am selling :D

And I'm thinking about fixing up that iBook. The Airport card is an investment since it works on so many old models.

Looking at that link, it seems like you can get a slower iBook, without an airport card, with less memory for more than I am asking for my iBook. Even factoring in what it would cost to fix the HD in the one I am trying to sell, you come out ahead

No, no, no. I was not directing that comment at you, I just needed to quote you to make sure people would know what I was talking about. That was more directed to the post made by jadekitty that said that you could get a better computer for less than what I was asking. Going by the "best deals" listed in your link, that is simply not true. Though I am still anxious to see if a deal like the one described by jadekitty can be found (and if it can, I would like to get in on it). If anything, I thought you might be saying you were interested in the iBook I am selling :D

I've been searching all afternoon for the deal I saw on a 12" 900 mhz cd-rw/dvd G3 w/airport @ $350. I believe the price was w/out shipping. However, I can't find it and it was wrong of me to make a statement without being able to back it up. I apologize sincerely, and hope this hasn't detered any would-be sales. I'm going to keep looking, but for now just figure that I'm an idiot who doesn't know what she's talking about :o

Definitely no worries; I was not meaning to call you out or anything. I was actually hoping you could find it, then I could part out the one I am selling, get a new one, and still turn a profit :D
I do think it was pretty awesome of you to post this, though, because a lot of the people around here aren't big enough to "man up" if it seems they have made a mistake. While I promise it's really not a big deal in this case, it would definitely make me more likely to go through with any deals you were trying to make down the road - it shows a lot of responsibility.
So yay for jadekitty! Smiles all around. And if anyone does find a deal like the one jadekitty described, please step forward with it.

Possible package deal here:
Mac Mini (with everything that came in the box, including the box)
17" Viewsonic LCD monitor
15gig 3g iPod (no Apple headphones, but I have some Philips ones, dock and all assorted cables, and the Apple carrying case it came with) OR the Nintendo DS and games
$825
Any interest?
<edit>
To add to this hypothetical deal, I:
Would throw in the Palm Pilot for $840.
Would throw in whichever was not chosen from the iPod/DS for $935
Would sell all of the stuff just mentioned for $950

If you are interested in the iBook (either whole or in pieces), please either send me PMs or respond to the PMs I have sent you in the next day or two or forever hold your peace.
Also, for the two people who posted here about the iPod, I sent both of you PMs. Please respond to your messages whether you are still interested or not; it is very hard to try to go ahead with any deals if people do not communicate.
To recap: If you have expressed interest in the iBook and and have not PMed me (either initially or as a response to a PM I sent you), you are about to run out of time. If you expressed interest in the iPod, please respond to your PM or I will have to assume you have no interest.

The iBook has officially been sold, as had the Columbia hunting parka (who woulda thunk?). I can recommend both 4JNA and genomez as buyers, and hopefully they will both have nice things to say when they get their respective goodies in the next couple of days.
The iBook ended up selling for $350 shipped, and I let the parka go for $100 shipped in case anyone cares.
While those two wonderful items are now unavailable, feel free to contact me re: purchasing the iPod, Nintendo DS, Palm Pilot, Viewsonic monitor, or Mac Mini. Remember, there may be deals for packages!
Thanks for stopping by.

There has been a change in price on the iPod. Some refurb ones finally came back to the Apple store (when I looked there were only Minis and Shuffles), and I saw that the price I was asking was out of line. Now asking $130. This is a great iPod for someone who requires a firewire connection instead of the USB 2.0 used in the newer iPods!

Thanks for the feedback! I can also say that genomez here was a great buyer. Easy to deal with, paid right away, and HE BOUGHT THE PARKA!!1!ONE! :D
Seriously, though, he was very easy to do business with, and I would not hesitate to sell to him again.
