iPod - Wait or Buy?

I was expecting a media event April 1st to announce the new ipod, which I was going to purchase. My 20 gigger has been full for quite some time now, and I've been holding off for this event which now is not happening. What is the general consensus? Is there going to be an announcement soon, because I really don't want to wait until August or the next macworld to upgrade my ipod...

Buy now (after April 1st just in case) or wait?

Well April 1 isn't that far away anyways. So you might as well just wait. I mean, if your order an iPod today, it won't even get processed til Monday morning. And if an announcement does come, maybe Tuesday, and it's a new iPod then you can get that.

I would wait until next week, say Wednesday just to make sure. Really though if you need one buy it, but you've waited this long so a week or less won't hurt you...or maybe it will ;)

I'd say just buy it (unless you need more than 60GB capacity or you think you'll watch a lot of video).

Why that date? Ive been waiting about a month or two to get an Ipod video 60gb. I really have no intrest right now in the rumored AV, but im really just wait for the 60gb to drop in price. Espically now with all these rumors about the Video 60gb is at risk. Do you think it will drop in price in the next month or two, or should I just buy one now?

If you wait a couple of months for the price drop and it doesnt drop in price then you REALLY shouldnt buy it because the chance of a price drop will just keep going up over time.

Id agree with the comments about buying it now if you need/want it now.

Well with the at risk reports from last month and the rumored announcement of the new Ipod, I price drop would seem kinda obvious. But the 30gig has been selling strong so its price should stay the same...so i guess really how much would the 60gig drop in price, or would it even at all, having it just stay at its current price then its gone. I guess really if the 60gig did drop in price all of the Ipods would have to drop in price too keep the pricing differencial in perspective. Now its not looking like I will wait much longer haha

If you want quality service go for the apple store but it can be slow, otherwise all other retailers are fine...Amazon etc, personally I would go for the official Apple Store,
