I'd like to raise the argument that Apple computers are indeed "Personal Computers", and if I remember correctly, the Apple II was the first (or at least one of the first) PCs.

Sorry for the quality, it's a cellphone.
Anyways, pictured is my hackintosh tower, currently booted into Windows 7, on my 26" tv.
Yes, I use an Apple keyboard for Windows, I'm normally on Snow Leopard on it anyways.

But what if the only PC you own is a Mac?

Then you don't have anything to post a picture of... Seems self explanatory.

My Actual Personal Computer: Mac Pro 5,1 2.8Ghz Quad.

Macbook Pro, Acer 21.5 inch (1080p) + 17" Dell (1024 x 1280).
You can't see my Logitech speakers. Those Dell ones are for the other desktop (look at third image)

Nothing like using an AP environmental science book to raise your monitor a few inches :D

http://i56.tinypic.com/2yn4ffq.jpg

I couldn't find my iPod Mini, but here you see my iPhone 3GS 32GB, iPod Touch 1st Gen 8GB, iPod Touch 2nd Gen 8GB, iPod Nano 1st Gen 2GB.

Under my desk:
http://i51.tinypic.com/14c9oom.jpg

Free printer from Apple, my custom build desktop (see signature for specs), some boxes with ink/toner/software/extra hardware and on the far right, you see my Dell Dimension 8400. (Pentium 4, 3.2ghz; 1GB RAM; ATi x300 128MB, 160GB HDD)

If anyone is interested to see what inside of my custom built PC looks like, just let me know

More Apple products to come! :D

Here they are!
I didn't do any "cable management" for the simple reason ... I don't really care haha. Well actually, I did that build when I was 13... so yeah.

Just so you have an idea regarding what you are looking at:

GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
Intel Core i5-750 2.66GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor
Diablotek PHD Series PHD650 650W Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
PNY GeForce GTX 260 VCGGTX260CXPB Video Card
ZEROtherm CORE92 Socket 1156/1366 HDT Cooler

Yes, I did just copy and paste that from order invoice from Newegg. The email is dated from Jan 19 2010. Wow, time sure flies! Seems like I got this yesterday.

No he didnt, as this thread can also include a lot of computers that dont run Windows e.g. the SGI Fuel by my feet. After all, you can post SGIs, old Sun boxes, Apple ][s here - all of them are Personal Computers and non-mac, so fit this thread, but their also not Windows PCs either.

There are better things to post on MR than snarky comments about someone's alleged laziness. The search system on this forum sucks more than a hooker using a vacuum cleaner, and MRoogle has been in endless cahoots as of late. Give the guy a bloody break.

I don't have full desk/monitor shot unfortunately. Monitor was a Samsung PX2370 LED. I sold off my last beastly PC rig for the iMac in my sig. Honestly, I miss the PC rig a lot.. but ONLY for gaming. Everything else however, the iMac is winner.

And this rig here was the last water cooled rig I built, I def. miss this one, was very, very quiet.

That's a pretty disappointing letdown. That's not the Alienware I once remembered. They would have had all black interior and incredible cable management. Not fruity cables. However... what sort of temperatures does the Alienware produce? CPU, Ambient etc...
Something like...
http://www.techtalkz.com/gallery/files/1/alx_cc-3.jpg

Your Alienware case looks not too shabby from the outside... but terribly dated 90's from the inside. Looks like it's made out of steel?

I always thought Alienware would have matched this type of quality.

I completely switched to OSX recently so I got rid of my Windows 7 laptop and desktop. Therefore, technically this is my Windows setup now:

It's not my own car, actually, (I'm 16 :D) nor is it my dads, but a friend of his asked me to create an update disk for his Audi A6 (navi, phone etc.) so that's why it's there. :p

It's a great car, though, and the quattro (4WD) even lets you drive through 10+ cm of snow (I've experienced it last year, with that same Audi A6)!

Yeah, Quattro is great like that. I drove the A8 a couple years ago on some twisting back roads, and it gave a sense of security that I just haven't found in any other car.

This isn't the best setup in the world but here goes;

Two windows laptops (Samsung)
Samsung 24"
iPhone 3GS (16GB)
iPad 1 (16GB)
iPod Touch (64GB)
Apple wireless keyboard
Apple wireless mouse
Apple earphones

Will be replacing the 24" with a Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display is around 5 months time and will be replacing the two Windows laptops with a Macbook Pro next year.

Oh and if I have a Mac and Windows laptop in the same setup, is it classed as a Mac or Windows setup?

Thanks, comments are welcome :)

Nice thread... Glad to see that there are non-PC haters here. I love all my Apple products... but I love my PC gaming rig just as much.:)

I'd like to buy a Mac in the future... but I just wanted to build a computer for the fun of it, and to learn and keep up with the technology today.

Here are a few pics of my first and only computer build below. For specs and a lot of pics... you can see build log thread on OCN (http://www.overclock.net/t/1152008/build-log-completed-800d-my-first-attempt-computer-build-and-going-watercooled).

My Battlefield 3 system, also doubles up as my main backup drive for my mac.

i5 760 2.8Ghz Quad, 4GB 2000 Mhz Corsair Ram, Radeon 6870 (will be a 7970 in a couple of weeks) Corsair 650D case, 60GB SSD, H60 Water Cooler...

Impressive cable management. The scary part is the case is so empty it's so tidy. Airflow must be great like that.

My set up is very simple and humble and just so I can vpn into my work applications. My macbook/imac can't really handle them even in bootcamp.

itunes is great, but I really love foobar.

That laptop has better specs than your iMac??

Unless it was a spec situation I don't know why bootcamp wouldn't be the option to use?

Not sure if you have to use Windows for work or not, but I do everyday and remote almost everyday. I use a Windows computer to VPN/RDP all the time. It just works better. Believe what you will, but it is true. I also use it for gaming, but I have used OSX for everything else for years. It is what it is.

Boot camp, while works, can be a PIA at 1:00 AM when your help desk calls you.

My current Vaio, currently saving up for a Vacation right now, but when I'm done with that I'll start saving up for a new Alienware laptop.

How are you liking the H60? I'm thinking about going down the H80 road for my first gen i5 for silence.

If you want silence don't use the supplied fans as they are awful, get a couple of AP-15s and run them at 1000. or less.

My i5 760 (1st gen) runs at 47C on the hottest core while running Battlefield 3 maxed out, so the H80 should be even better.

I completely switched to OSX recently so I got rid of my Windows 7 laptop and desktop. Therefore, technically this is my Windows setup now:

There it is running Windows 98 and Office 97 in all of its glory. I use it for playing GTA IV, Crysis and other games that won't run on my iMac or Macbook.
Old post, I know, but I can't help but think that the glory days of laptop design were in the late 90's. Sure, they were thick heavy beasts, but something about the roundness that most manufacturers used look so much better then the "defined, clean lines" that seems to be all the rage these days. To me, that (HP, I think it is? My eyesight sucks.) looks much better then the MacBook sitting next to it.

I'm only 19, but an old timer stuck in the past at heart. :p
