I've just got a new imac, and am trying to use itunes to copy my ipod database of movies/photos/music, coming to a total of 48 gigs onto the new computer. However, dragging music from the ipod image into the itunes library doesnt work, and I can't find anything on the apple website. Is it even possible to do this? If not, why not?

iPodRip is my favorite app that does this, but there are many, many others. Try a search on macupdate.

(and btw, xxmattibexx, it's not that iPod is read-only, it's just that Apple hides the file structure and doesn't allow drag and drop into iTunes from it. Go in with the terminal, and you can find (and copy) all the files from the iPod.) 🙂

I used iPodRip when I got my G5 and it works great. It is a great application and works great.
