Is iChat saving conversations?

Cause I've made a lot and I'm low on disk space and I don't want my computer to get clogged. Does iChat do this?

There's a pref. I'm not sure if it's on or off by default, but iChat->Preferences->Messages->Automatically save chat transcripts.

If you wanna check, Home: Documents: iChats is the folder where they are all stored.
