Disable mailto: links in Safari, is it possible?

I want to disable mailto links from automatically opening up mail.app when I click them. Is there a way to do this?

You can change what app opens, but I don't think you can disable this. At least AFAIK.

How do I change it? In 10.3 I see no option for default mail app in Safari's prefs.

I'm on 10.4 but I think 10.3 is the same. Interestingly, you set it in Mail's preferences..."General" pane.

You are correct. The default mailer is set in Mail.app.
