Hello:
There seem to be a lot of DIY mods/upgrades for the mac mini & iMac.
Curious to know if anyone has tried to upgrade the standard intel based iMac hard drive (250GB) with a larger one?
I know, I know...it would easier to purchase the larger drive directly from Apple. Still people are attempting these type of mods...
I know there is a site, which details the process:

If you've attempted the hard drive upgrade, any issues?
Thanks,
VJ
I'm also aware that this voids the warranty

intel imac 7.1 (2008) hard drive upgrade

i made this video because my hard drive fail a month after the warranty expired. this should help anyone replacing or upgrading an imac (2008) hard drive.
you can use mostly any hard drive for this upgrade. make sure it SATA, and the box will most likely say it's for 'pc and mac'. i upgrade to 1TB no problem. also, it's a user serviceable part, so you're not breaking any of those 'warranty void if removed' stickers. JUST DO IT!!!!!! i did, and now my computer runs faster with the 1TB Western Digital caviar black.

I know this isn't your fault as the forums were split at a later date, but replying to this old post just put your post in the wrong forum.
Not only that, heh, but what is a Trex screw driver?
Do you mean Torx?

Yea, it's a torx. I'm not too concerned about where the post is or whatever, i'm not familiar with the forums. I just want to help people that ran into the same problem as me. Maybe you can suggest where i should post this?
p.s. trex is a material I used for decking. I stayed up late making that video and f-ed it up.
