Hi.

What is the latest version of OSX that I can use on my G4 DP 450 mhz?
Is it possible to download older versions of OSX for free, legally?
Where?

/O

No, Apple still charges for systems as old as Mac OS 7.

That said, you should be able to get huge discounts on the older versions through ebay and some resellers.

Latest is Tiger, it would run fine as it ran fine on my iMac 500 G3.

You should be fine with Tiger (10.4.6)

Ok, I see.

Well, I only need it temporarily until I get my new G5 in a couple of weeks, So I´m not really interested in buying Tiger right now.

Plus.... I need it now, within an hour or so. I might check out any internetstores/resellers to find an older version. Any suggestions?

This is what I found at Amazon.com:

Mac OS X 10.3 Panther [Old Version] (CD-ROM - Macintosh) from $99.99

It seems a bit expensive to me...

Check out macsales.com. They have Jaguar for $18 here (http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Apple/6914337A/).
