(hope this hasn't been posted already)

The .eu internet domain name is now available!

The top level domain has actually existed since December, but restricted to holders of prior rights... however, from today, anybody living in the EU can apply for a .eu domain name.

So has anybody rushed out to register macrumours.eu? ;)

for some reason, eu just has such negative connotations for me, maybe it's because of Brussels and their not very sensible legislations. :p

I've already got the .com domain for my company, so I don't think I'll bother. I think this is more important for those who only have a regionalised domain name like a .co.uk.

Still, with all the companies that are going to rush out and get their .eu domains to stop cybersquatters, it's a nice little earner for registrants. Assuming of course that they're allowed to make a profit from it.
