im going to buy ram for a 12in powerbook
does it matter if its 200 or 184pin? as long as its PC2100 DDR its okay right? the 200pin is a lot more expensive but thats what the apple store is selling for the 12in powerbook

If the ram doesn't match the proper specifications, it won't work.
Also, with a different number of pins, the form factor may be different enough that you could damage the memory slot rendering it useless.
And there is always a chance of damaging something if they are mismatched.
