Do you have something like daemon tools or alcohol 120% installed? That is most likely the problem.

Try out these support articles for help:

Alcohol 120% - http://kb.mediafour.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=80

Daemon Tools v4 - http://kb.mediafour.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=questiondetails&_i=77

NOTE: DAEMON Tools V4 also uses SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) driver to access cdroms and it is also automatically installed during DT setup. But SPTD is not removed during uninstallation because it may be used not only by DAEMON Tools but by other applications as well and its removal may disrupt these applications.
Nevertheless, if you suppose your problems are SPTD releated you can remove it as specified in this thread

If you have daemon tools v4 then you're pretty much screwed unless you uninstall v4 as well as the "SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) driver"

You can find out how to remove the SPTD driver here:

http://www2.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/t6828-my-system-wont-boot-after-installation-of-v4-or-problems-with-sptdsys.html

Once you remove that SPTD driver, macdrive should work fine, at least it did for me :)

If you still want to use daemon tools you can download v3.47 which I did and that works great.
