Does the 160 GB Seagate HD work for the MacBook Pro?

Hey all-

Thinking about upgrading my internal harddrive in my MacBook Pro to the Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160 Gig harddrive. However, I haven't seen any reviews, discussions, etc. on this harddrive. Does this internal harddrive work with the MacBook Pro? If so, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. :)

I haven't heard of anyone using it but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. However, if I was you I would stick with the 80 or 100 GB HD that comes with the MBP and just buy an external. I'm sure the cost would be minimal between the two and you end up with more storage and the ability to use it on multiple computers.

I upgraded my internal HD to 120GB using the Seagate and it works great.

I put a 100GB Seagate in my PB (stupid ****ing Fuji crap). It's quiet, and is running out of room again. Maybe if I get some money this summer... :D

Are you thinking of doing the upgrade by yourself? I don't see the 160GB option under BTO...

Why not just buy an external drive? Nobody needs 160GB for "legitimate files", just leave your pr0n and DVD rips at home and save that 1 or 2 in the internal drive for the times when you feel like watching a couple movies on the road.

The Seagate 5400.3 won't work in your MacBook Pro. It uses the older Ultra-ATA interface, while the new MacBooks use SATA. Hopefully they will be upgraded soon because between OS X, and Windows XP Im running out of space on my stock drive.
