I have 2 rev A iMac G5 and I want them to last for some time and I´m thinking if you know of any tricks that can be done in order for the iMacs last longer?
What comes into my mind is to do something so they run cooler, or whether they should be shut down or just set to idle over night etc...
Do you know of any tricks or general advice so the computers are likely to last longer?

Sleep your machine, dont turn it off and on so often but really your iMac should last a nice long time as long as its not abused. Dont worry so much.:D

Ditto, I let mine sleep as the only time it gets turned off is if a storm is in the area. Also it's in my art room which is in my basement and that room stays cool in the summer and warm as well as dry (small heater just for that room). Keep the inside clean from dust as that can take a toll on any machine and that's about all I have to add ;)

Don't jump off a cliff with ur iMac :p
On a serious note, the only thing that would worry me is the lcd screen that is built inside, if that dies, your kinda screwed. You should make sure it turns off when aren't using it (energy saver->put display to sleep when computer is inactive for X amount of time).

I'm writing this on a bondi blue imacG3, lasted me over six and a half years so far and going strong. Never let me down - ever! These thingsare built to last! I'm just sensible with mine - ensure proper ventilation, dust covers if not in use for some time, don't mess with system stuff you're not meant to. Just housekeeping.
