Hi,

I was wondering if the sudden motion sensor on the MBP is tied to the hard drive itself. I might go for an 80GB HD at the moment and switch to a 160GB 7200RPM drive when it's avaliable in a few months. However, i'm concerned that the sudden motion sensor that keeps the HD safe will not be supported once I do it. Any insight?

Thanks!

Oded S.

The SMS is an accelerometer in the laptop itself, so no worries with changing your drive!

Although if the upgrade isn't done by an apple technician you will most probably void your warranty.
