That would be of no use to her. Courses taught with Access require the use of Access. There are often labs, assignments, sample files, and so on. Outside of an academic environment, O😵 might be a potential replacement, but when schools say MS Access, they mean MS Access. Personally, I'm a MySQL kind of guy.
These really aren't betas. And NeoOffice does not actually have a database application yet, since this was only bundled with OpenOffice.org v2.0. If you can't afford Access, OpenOffice.org would be your only cheap best bet that I can think of.
