NO RESERVE
I'm auctioning my baby because I just bought a 12-inch.
She is 1.67 GHz, 2GB RAM, 100GB@5400 rpm HDD, 128MB VRAM, 8x SD.
AppleCare through May 2009. Also throwing in Office 2004 and Virtual PC 7.
I spent a sickening amount of time making this eBay page. Seriously, don't even ask. At least I kick ass at Pages now!
EDIT:

10% is going to Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention.

Not the best idea to post your serial number up for all to see...

Eh, why not? They can check the warranty or that it's legit, i.e not stolen...

Still not a good idea. Take a screen shot of the support site with the warranty info but the serial number blurred out. If they don' think your pics, feedback, and story are legit...I wouldn't want to deal with them anyway, they can contact you for that info if they're really that paranoid. People can do things with serial numbers...it's just best not to put it out there for everyone.

Yeah, that's true. Maybe I'll just remove those pictures altogether.
Do you think it's bad that I don't have thumbnails for the photos?
I also have no idea what the reserve should be. I know what I want it to be... :p

You do know it is illegal to resell the Office for Students and Teachers, correct?

When does he say Students and Teachers? Or did I miss that bit?
Nice auction, good luck.

Ahhh yes I see it now. Yeah, illegal to resell that to someone who isn't a student/teacher. :)

Moving on...
Pages is REALLY buggy when you insert images into tables...

I'm not just saying this, that your ad is one of the best-laid out I've ever seen. If I didn't already have one, I'd be bidding just on principal. Nice, nice work.

I want to add that I'm open to any offers outside eBay (high or low, but no trades). I checked, that's ok with their policies.

Wow that is a really nice page. I'm not suprised that it took you forever to make.:)

Pages works surprisingly well... there's a few things that don't translate well, like transparencies... but on the whole, very nice for quick (or not...) web pages.

I'm not such a big fan of the "throw the white sheet info in the middle of the page and the photos at the bottom" method of auction layouts.
I'm of the opinion that users want specific information about what they're bidding on -- marketing information easily located through Google and legalese boiler plate just clutters the page if located in the middle of the auction. ;)
I hand-code all of my auctions, in BBedit, BTW.
---
You also might want to blank out the Ethernet, Bluetooth and Airport ID's -- they're sometimes even more useful to bad guys than the serial numbers.

That's good too. The only problem with that is potential bidders who don't know much about Macs, or trackpad scrolling for example, want that market information. The photos were too low though.
I can't believe the sheer idiocy of the messages I received today.
"is the colour black"
"is this a scam"
"i'm very interested would you ship international i pay shippin do you accept business check, i need your quick response thank for your cooperation i hope we can work together"

Yeah, I've gotten all sorts of stupid, inane and downright creepy questions on seemingly innocuous auctions. Then, I get people who ask me for info that is written plain-as-day, in large, bold font in bullet points at the top of the page.
---
The only thing I wish I'd done differently on this auction is that I forgot to transfer the screen shots and Apple Hardware Profiler report off of the machine before I performed the clean-install restore -- meaning that I'd have to set-up the machine and then wipe it all over again. I just didn't think it was worth the trouble, especially given my feedback rating. (Doh!)
...Well, that and forgetting to register the PBG4 for AppleCare (instead, I used the PB-purchased Applecare kit to register the MBP immediately after it arrived.)

I was impressed by your pictures. I didn't have a tripod so that was fun.
It seems like the Featured Plus! is getting us hundreds of views.

All of mine were handheld -- EOS 20D, Speedlite 580, Canon 17-35mm F2.0 L lens :D (Of course, I used to be a professional photographer, which might have helped.)

So much for my Nikon Coolpix. ;)
Bidding stands at $1575 with no reserve, 3 days remaining.

Well folks there's 18 hours left and it's still at $1575 + shipping, so that should warrant a last update. That's a sickkk deal, so I advise you get on it! :p :D

Actually I'd imagine with the Office S&T version that's it's not illegal to resell to someone else, but it's illegal for the other person to use if they're not a student or teacher as it'd be them breaking the license terms if you get my meaning. heh

Okay getting nervous now... 12 hours. :p

Awesome text on your sig... I live in Faribault, just south of you. I have a gift card for $950 for the Apple Store. If I purchase your laptop, would you accept that as part of the payment? Have any need for it? If so, I could do it and the balance in cash. I could meet you in the cities tomorrow to do the deal. That is provided I win on ebay should I choose to bid.
I was holding out for the 17" MacBook...
Thanks, Dean

Thanks, yours as well! Don't we all have a need for Apple gift cards? :D That would be great. Probably can't cancel the listing now, they'd probably suspend my account (lol). But yeah, win!!!
