Capture Scratch AV file issues. Help!

I'm moving my capture scratch files onto my external (i didn't have it when i imported), and half way through the 24 GB folder it stops with this message:

The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in file "Untitled6-av" could not be read or written.
(Error code- 36)

This has happened with various files, i'm starting to lose my patience.

I have tried to open the file, in quicktime, but it is not recognized. When trying to open the file in Final Cut Pro, it crashes.

What format is your external drive? If it's formatted FAT32, there's a limit of 4gb per file, which some of yours might exceed.
