View Full Version : What games are you most anticipating? (Any system, any year)

The title says it all...
I'm curious as to what people are hyped about for each of the systems:
- PC
- Mac
- 360
- PS3
- Rev/GCN
For me it would be:
- Zelda: Twighlight Princes [Rev/GCN]
- BioShock [360] (This is the "spritual successor" to System Shock!)
- Too Human [360]
- 'Square-Enix Shooter' [360] (Hoping this will be a new Einhander!)
- Dark Sector [360/PS3]
- Battle Angel Alita [360/PS3]
- Project Offset [360/PC]
- Shenmue Complete [360] (rumoured)
- Halo 3 [360]
I guess it's easy to tell why I picked up a 360.
You'll also notice all the PS3 games that interest me are also coming to 360. I look at the titles announced for PS3 and I mostly see a bunch of sequels (many on #4 or 5) and I'm honestly bored of that. There are some sequels I have listed, I am a huge Zelda fan and my and friends have a huge amount of fun getting together for 8-player Halo.
Revolution I just haven't seen yet... the idea of NEW genres and gameplay excite me, just haven't seen or heard enough to add them to my list.

MP 3, the next set of Mario sports games, Battlefront 3, the next Republic Commando, Zelda Twilight Princess and Phantom Hour Glass. SSB as well
And if Shenmue Complete does in fact only come out for 360 i will cry and get a 360 just for that single game. God did i love the DC games

Metroid Prime 3- The first two Prime games have gotten me addicted, this is without a doubt my most anticipated game.
Twilight Princess- It's a Zelda game, how can you not be drooling over it??:p
Red Steel- I've never really been that into FPS, but after reading a bit about it, the concepts behind the game like respect seem to have caught my attention.
Super Mario Rev. (Mario 128?)- A sequel to Super Mario 64 is long overdue.;)
Super Smash Bros. Revolution- With online play I think it will be a must have.:)
Animal Crossing Revolution- The first two game are on the right track, but there is still a lot missing, in my honest opinion. Hopefully the Rev version will add a bit more complexity to the series.:)
MVP Baseball 2006 (2007?)- It'll be interesting to see what they can do with the Revs controller...
And yes, if you can't already tell I am eagerly awaiting the Rev. Gotta love those first party games.:)

By the way, guess who ended up getting an E3 Pass? :)
Turns out that DigiPen did in fact get 25 free passes. About 75 people signed up for them and there was a drawing and I got chosen!
So can't wait to go to E3 to check out the above games (the ones that are shown), try out Revolution and PS3, and check out Matt Casamassina's new MacBook Pro. :)

Can't believe no one is mentioning Heroes of Might and Magic V (http://www.mightandmagic.com/HeroesV/uk/intro.php) all the more so that it went GOLD today and so hopefully the Mac port which the good old folks up at Freeverse (http://news.freeverse.com/archives/001110.php) are working on should follow suit very soon. Gonna pick up a lot of awards this year this game ;)

Not buying a PS3 or 360 for lackluster reasons. Looking to buy a Rev, possible a DS Lite but only when my DS dies. Which running off how well I take care of hardware - never. Oh, but I'm building a new super PC later this year to run Vista games. Once again I won't be needing a powerful console.
Metroid Prime 3. Metroid Prime being, IMO, the best game series yet.
Red Steel. Swords and guns with a gyro controller :D :D
Twilight Princess.
Smash Bros Rev. With online play, my girlfriend will never be safe.
Phantom Hourglass.
Animal Crossing Rev. Been playing the DS one again. This game was built for a gyro controller.
But, more than anything, ever.
Mario 128. I have a feeling we're going to get something about this game at E3. After a stint in development as long as Duke Forever, with gameplay that's been kept secret. I think it might be pretty damn good :)

jimmi: Nearly all of your most anticipated games are on Revolution... why get spend the case to build a 'super pc' then? You didn't list one "most anticipated" PC game! :D
I'm surprised at how much of what everyone is looking forward to is A) the same. and B) sequels.
Hopefully these sequels turn out great... but when they have gotten as high as #4 and 5 I figure the isn't a whole lot of hope of getting something fresh/new. Fans already know what they want, so studios are pressured to not change things...
That said I'm sure I'll like plenty of them, it's just they are low on my Hype meter since I've played the previous ones.
Zelda, on the other hand, that always seems to different enough to remain fresh! :D

I had totally forgot handheld games at all.... the DS Zelda and Mario games coming look sweet. Especially the new Mario! I'd rather play new retro-style sequels then play the original classics that I beat 10 times already...

Team Fortress 2 ;)
seriously at the moment i'm more interested with what games the rev will launch
for the 360 it would perhaps be "too human" and for the ps3 the next gran turismo
and Spore for the PC
games which perhaps are in development
advance wars with online play: as an old turn based game fan i can't wait for such a game on the DS or revolution
the next Civilization
games which perhaps never will be made:
for the DS:
Panzer General remake: lets face it the game would be perfect for the DS since it's a completely mouse operated game and only involves clicking

well it's hard to anticipate a game nobody knows about... the last big new game i really anticipated was killer 7 and before that the original perfect dark which was a sequel in spirit to goldeneye ;)
it's pretty clear that at the moment it's quite hard to _get_ players to buy new games wihtout relying on a franchise
remember how critics liked katamari and how hyped it was ? guess what happend ? sales sucked (charging 50 bucks in europe didn't help) ... same with killer 7 who outside of europe did rather lousy .. or psychonauts or fahrenheit.. or the other one which i already forget
many people are tired of sequels but on the other side the urge to buy a new concept is rather low...
personally i found my love for flight games and turned based again recently and sadly there are only a few good games out there... i think there are more ww2 shooters out there then games in those genres combined
oh and add next generation mario party with online play to my list if we're talking about sequels ...minigames & board game combined just never get old ;)
it's paradox ....

Oooh, yeah, I'm going to add that one to my list too. How about Mario Tennis as well? If we could get two wireless controllers, Mike Tyson's Punch Out could rock!
Sports games could be sweet with the new controller.
I'd also like Nintendo to come out with a Star Wars game, because face it, that controller is screaming 'lightsaber'.
Edit: I'll add in a wish for Kid Icarus, and a Soul Calibur-style fighter (with Zelda of course) as well, to work on my Nintendo swordplay.

I just want to run current games that I can't enjoy in their lower settings. Quake 4 and Doom 3 etc. I'm keeping myself for Ressurection of Evil in a virgin state so I can fully enjoy with everything maxed out on my 2005FPW, hell. new PC=2405FPW :D It's all still a long time off though. Also keeping the upcoming HL2 episodes fresh too, HDR and all that.
Of course there will more games I'll look forward too. I say sequels mostly because I trust them, I trust Nintendo will make Mario 128 to be this gob smacking game and Retro Studios to push out what could be the pinnacle of my recent gaming life; the end of the Metroid Prime series.

Ah yes, I'm looking forward to this one too, though I thought it would be called Tiberium Dusk since the first one is considered Tiberium Dawn and the "second" is called Tiberium Sun.

I agree, I don't think Blizzard is very productive. I've heard they actually have an arcade in the main office, and more time is spent there then programming... makes sense I guess.

Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is about the only specific game I am lookin forward to right now.
I'm probably going to get a Revolution, and in general looking forward to the first Rev Mario Party game, Mario Kart [Revolution], and Twighlight Princess if the Rev controll support turns out to be "cool".
Oh, actually, I can add the Mario Bros DS game to the list of specific games I am looking forward to. New Mario platformer (how long since we could say that!?) AND the mini-games from Mario64 DS, two of my favorite things!
Er, and I suppose that I can "look forward to" Brain Train and Mario&Luigi: Partners in Time, even though they are already out since I don't have them, yet. :) In fact, I think I am going to go trade in a couple DS games and get one of those two today! :)
3. Blizzard's next non-warcraft game (betting on Diablo III)
4. Spore
Diablo 3 would be cool, as long as it ran on my mini! :)
I'm reserving judgement on Spore until it's actually released. There's been so much talk about it for so long, and how it's the be all and end all of games, and it does everything, etc etc, that I have a feeling it's going to suck.
