I'm probably near alone but... I don't want anything... then again my iMac is maxed out (except HD) and while my Powerbook can hold more RAM I don't really use it anyway so it's not worth it...

I guess maybe some speakers for my iMac Core Duo but I don't know of any good digital speakers and the ones in the iMac work fine...

Probably just a new, bigger external hard drive, so I can start using my Mini as a media center as well. That's all!

I really have everything I need for my iBook G4@800 at the moment

More RAM (got 640MB) and a bigger HD (got 60GB) would be nice, but I cannot justify upgrading either, the cost (of upgrading a two and a half years old laptop) greatly exceeds the gain in efficiency and the value of the machine.

I could maybe use a new workhorse for the heavier part of work (nothing complements an iBook 12" like an iMac 20" ;)), but most of the time I just work with text files and the occasional light Photoshop work, so the iBook is really quite sufficient... :)

Now give me a project involving some heavy Photoshop/3D/Flash/Video and I have to get me the ultimate iBook accessory... :D

What do I want for my Mac? Simple. A New one ;) Not really for a speed increase - more so for a smaller screen, FR, and integrated iSight. And Windows Bootablly.

Oh and I do hope the new MacBooks use that rumored Magnetic latch. I thoroughly hate the tibook latch.

calebjohnston
Apr 25, 2006, 09:21 AM
I'd love a latch that doesn't bend the screen when it's latched down. My mac laptops all develop a little curve on the top corners of the screens because of it.

nabaztag (http://www.nabaztag.com/vl/FR/index.jsp) - not really sure about this one but my girlfriend wants one badly...

Apr 26, 2006, 04:05 AM
1GB RAM for my iBook
Mac mini 1.66GHz Core Duo with 1GB RAM & 120GB HDD
500GB external HDD
23" Apple Cinema Display (would accept a 20")
Klipsch 2.1 speakers
iPod 30GB
iPod nano 4GB
Solid Gold Toilet
A stunningly attractive and uninhibited live-in maid
A 6x increase in my DVD library
17" MacBook Pro
Apple's 2006, 2007 and 2008 release schedule (can you imagine how much that would be worth???)
More of this $$$$$$$$$$, less bills from crap telecommunications companies who can't get broadband to someone on a major thoroughfare in the 9th largest city in the country.

To add onto my PB:
iCurve-type stand to help things stay cool
External display, at least 23" to make it worth my while
iSight, especially a new one with an IR sensor and remote
BT keyboard to use with my PB in clamshell mode and external display
I suppose some speakers like the Creatures, if I feel like rocking out with my sweet external display

And in 5 years, fiber-optic connections like the one in my avatar (40Gb/s)

A stunningly attractive and uninhibited live-in maid

Live-in maids are going fairly cheap now. Especially since Rev B has just been released. This nice thing is they now come with a built-in English module, so you don't have to add any software updates.
Just me sure to max out the intelligent quota - you don't want her wearing your new toilet as an earring.

#3- iSight. :)

I bought an iSight today... it's fantastic :) Worth every penny... especially cool using stuff like evobarcode with it.

Anyway onto my list...

- Another external hard drive - one of those LaCie designed by FA Porsche to stack with the one I've already got.

- Mac-compatible DTT TV tuner device

- Bluetooth headset compatible with Skype

- USB MIDI keyboard (next on my list probably) and a copy of Logic Express.

That's it... for now ;)

i had a bad... really bad experience with my griffin icurve. it was really great until one day the 2 rubber nubs on the front of it (which prevents the laptop from falling off) popped off. i litterally watched my powerbook slide off of it and crash into my powermac. lets just say i won't be buying another one... ever.

Hey, I got my wish this week! Woo! 300GB here I come! So, uh, I guess maybe now I want some more RAM? Or some sort of USB-powered device that produces money for me to buy more upgrades with?

List:

Another External for DVD Burner
BT Mouse - can't find them anymore why?
iSight
... and I've already upgraded my RAM so I'm good.

Dr_Maybe
May 8, 2006, 04:11 AM
External LCD display (19"+ widescreen)
External HDD (maybe the Seagate 750GB)

Projector for watching movies
Surround amp, and surround speaker setup for watching movies

Intel duo Mac Mini as a home theater computer, internet connected file server, and maybe development server. (not really necessary, since my laptop really does what I need, but it would be a bit more convenient).

And a MBP. I could probably live with a 15", if it was hooked up to an external display.

Oh, a quad with dual 30" ACDs would be nice for work@home, but a bit too costly. And dealing with syncing files between that and a laptop could be a hassle.

BT mouse, Logitech V270.
You get a "REAL" 2 button mouse and scrollwheel.
None of the fake mightymousecrap

The V270 just works, no drivers, no software.
Apple bluetooth finds it and needs no modification.
And the battery life is great, I havent changed my batteries in over 4 months.
Im still using the original AA Duracell that came in the package.

- iSight
- External Hard Drive (I still have 20GB left on my mini's, but I've started taking a lot of photos.)
- 30" ACD (Okay, so it doesn't work with the mini, but I still want one! ;) )

And... that's about it. After recently upgrading to 1 gig of RAM, I've basically got everything I really want.

Oh, BTW, I also want a pair of Xbox360 controllers. My brother just got one for his mac, and says it works great.

And eyeTV too.

UPDATE: I got the xbox360 controllers. Works well with the unofficial OS X drivers found on versiontracker. I am using them with a SNES emulator.

In the next few days, I'll be getting a Mac Mini Core Duo, with 2GB of RAM and a 120GB HDD. I've just ordered a Dell 2405FWP monitor that should be pretty nice. I've ordered a wired keyboard and Mighty Mouse to go with the Mini. I haven't tried the MM yet, so I'm looking forward to getting it. I got a BT keyboard and mouse for my old iMac, but I think I'll prefer the wired MM if I can find a remote that works well with the stuff I care about. The IR Apple remote might be nice, but I need a BT or a RF one. The Keyspan RF Remote for Front Row seems pretty good. Their Presentation Remote and TuneView Remote look pretty cool too. I wouldn't mind having the three of them, actually. I think they'd be fun toys to play with.

Anyways, when my wallet recovers, I'd like to get a 750GB NewerTech miniStack (or whatever's the biggest HDD capacity they offer at that time). It's such a big HDD in such a tiny package!!! And you can pile a few if you want even more storage. Oh! The joy of having a cute little tower measuring only 6.5"x6.5"x8" but having 120GB+4x750GB of storage!!! WOW!!! WwwwwwwwwoW!!! :P

Eventually, I'd like to get a decent TV tuner as well, but it is not a priority at the moment as I don't yet have the aforementioned cute little tower and its associated storage capacities. :P

I just discovered the ATI Remote Wonder II. I think it would be a good all-in-one solution. It seems to be a pretty powerful remote and it is supported by MediaCentral (a FrontRow-type of application): http://www.remotecentral.com/wonder2/features.htm .

Miglia also announced the "TVMax" tuner for the Mini. It features DivX hardware compression, which is rather nice, and has a form factor that matches the Mini's, which is a big esthetic plus. I don't really know much about the different TV standards, but the tuner's technical specifications mention only "standard definition" so I'm not sure if the image quality is worth the price: http://www.miglia.com/products/video/tvmax/techspecs.html .

I'm gunning for an ACD right now, I either want a 30 or two 20's. Or the dell widescreens, I don't care about the brand that much. Other than that I would like to have an iCurve for my MacBook, because it will soon be my desktop on EyeTV duty when the 64 bit MBP's come out.
