Have a 5 GB and will soon have a 40 GB... wait, no, they are way too expensive. I guess I'll go for the cheaper 10 GB basic model then...
(At this time, all european Apple Stores will 'be right back') :D

Nope, but as soon as the iPods are updated, I am getting one.

I currently have a 10GB iPod. Unless they do something amazing to the battery life, I will probably just use mine until it needs an out of warrenty repair.

One o fthe changes to the battery that would attract me is the ability to have a battery that is swapable. I'd buy a second battery for an iPod in a heartbeat, even tho' I haven't gotten a second one for my PowerBook (yet).

I was ripping cd's this weekend, and it made me wonder about other people and their iPods.

I have a 20 gig model that I never thought I'd fill up. I was wondering what the capacity is of everyone's iPods and how many songs you have currently as well as available space.

I have a 20 gig model with a capacity of 18.5 Gig. There are 3289 songs (almost all ripped at the ~180bps rate) and I have 3.0 gig left.

There was a poll that covered the number of songs in iTunes while back. See thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?threadid=14493) for peoples comments.

As for the number of songs in my 10GB iPod, that changes as I change what music is in it. I've encoded my MP3s at VBR (160 minimum). I have a total of 62 gigs of MP3s made from my CD collection.

I don't have the need for an iPod. I think they are super cool but I don't really need one.

I have a 10 G iPod and currently have 1901 songs on it. I have found it works best as a replacement for my CD player in my car. No more fumbling around trying to find that CD for that song. Just select, listen and enjoy.

I have a 10Gb. I never thought I would use it as much as I do. I sometimes wonder how I ever lived without it.

If a 10gb model cost $150... sure, I'd spring for one.

It used to be that no matter how many cds I threw into my backpack or car, The one I *really* wanted to listen to was still at home. My 20gb iPod solved that problem. Now I don't have to pre-guess what I'll want to listen to on a 3 day business trip. My entire collection is with me (plus a couple of audiobooks and a backup of my website).

Life is good.

(BTW, for anyone who doubts that the iPod works like a Mac gateway drug, consider this: I was a lifelong PC user who bought a Win iPod last fall. Then I started checking out the iPod discussion forums on the Apple site. Then it was on to the rest of the Apple site... and yada yada yada... 4 months later I own a Powermac. I've just recently updated my iPod to Mac format. Buh-bye Windows.)

Yup, got a 5 gig when they first came out, updated to 20 gig when they first came out. The iPod has forever changed the way I listen to music and transport files.
