Apple lays off Aperture development group, planning to buy Adobe?

While I take all of Cringley's columns with not a grain but an entire salt-lick block of salt, it is interesting that he reports an Aperture layoff. However, given Apple's current good fortune, I'd expect that, even if the Aperture team was disbanded, the employees were reassigned elsewhere.

Can anyone really confirm this? I just don't see it, or perhaps I don't want to believe it.
