Is there such a thing as an affordable USB/Firewire combo card (pcmcia) for a Wallstreet? OWC has one, but wants something like $80 for it.

Geeks.com has one for $17, but it's a no-name Chinese deal:

Any idea if this works?

I got an old Wallstreet a while back that I am interested in turning into my torrent machine (low power consumption, ya know), so I need the Firewire to connect to my external drive, and USB is just plain handy.

Thanks all!

Check cyberguys.com - they sometime have one-step-up from the one you ref'ed above.

You could also think about adding a thumb hub for increasing USB and getting just a firewire card.

Thanks, I'll take a look. Wallstreets have no USB onboard, so I'd need a USB/Firewire combo card regardless.

Wallstreets have no USB onboard.

D'oh! For some reason I had it in my mind they did. Another brilliant idea foiled by reality!

They have airport, tho', don't they? Could you use an airport express for your USB needs? They go for like $60 refurb?? (wait, the name Rube Goldberg is sticking in my head now.... :o )
