I run my iPod on windows even though i have a mac because theres more space on my pc. im regretting it. My 3rd generation ipod wont update and i either have to reset it multiple times or redownload iTunes. then it updates. apple wants to charge 50 for support over phone. rediculous that i paid 400$ for it. help please. i use firewire by the way.

Have you tried restoring it on the Mac? It's sounding like a failing hard drive which sucks but is quite common. Hopefully it isn't. Does the iPod get very warm when it's plugged into the PC and connected to iTunes? Does it make a slight clicking noise?

Also, have you had the opportunity to try a different cable? :)
