View Full Version : Dani California, Stadium Arcadium*- Roll on May 9th!

So I got my first listen to the Chili Pepper's new single, Dani California and it's only heightened the anticipation for the new Album, Stadium Arcadium, on May 9th.
On the single, Frusciante is in eye popping form again, lyrics are up to scratch, drumming impeccable. My only thought is Flea's bass is a little quiet.
If the new album has more of this and better (some 28 tracks!) then it should rock to the high heavens. :D
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Sounds like some good Chili Peppers to me! The video is really cool with all of the retro costumes.

I wouldn't consider myself a fan but I really like Dani California and I'm definitely going to buy the album and I'll probably going to see them when they're playing some festivals here in Europe. Also, I like the new video pretty much... I didn't like by the way that much(the album) but I'm looking forward to stadium arcadium.

That's awesome! I'm seeing them in July in London. Saw them in Hyde Park a couple of years ago and it blew me away.
Why in the hell does Chad always wear blue?!

I can't wait for this album to hit the stores. I'm so anxious I've been listening to Dani California non stop. Has anybody pre-orderd the album through iTunes yet. I'm really tempted to do so just for the pre-Ticket sale advantage. However I will buy the CD no matter what. It's kind of throwing money out of the window. Suggestions are welcome.
I've seen the RHCP on there last us tour and it was by far one of the best concerts I have ever been to.

I'm not going to buy it through iTunes. The DRM and the lower quality are two big no-no factors for an album you know you're going to listen to everywhere and anywhere you can for a fair while. Might even spalsh for the limited edition copy but it's pretty pricey!

I usually buy things through iTMS but not this one.
In the UK, there's no 'ticket' perk just the video and audio commentary that I'm not all that bothered about. And it's £3 dearer than Amazon et al have it online so I'm buying the CD this time round.
Looking forward to it though!

I was about to buy it through iTMS, but after reading the posts (DRM, bit rate)
I am going to go for the cd! I absolutely love By The Way and
I am drooling over this one.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are probably my all-time favorite band. I pre-ordered the album from iTunes last night. I just dont use CDs and the only CDs I have ever bought were RHCP CDs, which is pretty ironic because I think that would make me by this one, but I don't know. I'm not that picky about the difference...

Anybody else who goes to the Listening Party tomorrow (6:30pm, all Apple Stores [maybe US, maybe all - I didn't look]), can you provide feedback as well?

I saw that advertised in the Regents Street store. How did it work? Was the album just playing while the shop was open as normal?

it's a wicked good album..
i happened "to come across a promo release", and i have to say my favorite songs from the album are "Snow (Hey Oh)" and "Slow Cheetah", but the whole album's great.. there's a PERFECT mix of classic Chili Pepper funk & the new Californication/By The Way sound.
now, i need to rant. Flea posted something to the RHCP site where he essentially said "i woke up and found out that the album got leaked to the internet, all the downloaders suck and are making us sad because they're hearing the album in a bad quality not equivalent to what we want it to sound like!".
and they have the BALLS to sell their stuff on iTunes, in my-ears-are-bleeding 128kbps AAC. even the leak was better quality than that. kthxbai.
regardless i'm buying the album the day it comes out :D

Just picked up my copy during the lunch break, got it for a mere $12...I was surprised it was so inexpensive for being a double disc. Now its time to listen...

Yup. I like some of their older songs, but I'm not a major fan-- don't own any of their previous CDs.
But I just picked up this album-- only heard the first 3 tracks off of the Jupiter disc and I am impressed. I like it when he sings more than when he raps and so far-- definitely more singing. :D

It is definitely more funky like some of their older stuff. I really like it, I can definitely just play the CD without having to skip a track.

I almost did that, then I noticed the nearest show is not really all that close (how does that nappen in DC), or at least there wasn't a show planned when they made this announcement. But, getting the CD for $12 seems better than a D/L for $20. What was the RIAA saying about iTMS not making enough money on popular tracks?;)

Yeah its pretty nice that you can get it for 12, that kinda sucks for me. But whatever, I'm just happy that I'm going to see them though...gotta wait till October, damn.

I just picked up my copy and got it home. It turns out you got one other benefit that I didn't - no defective copy worries. Mars is defective and can't be read by my computer nor by my wife's. Now I have to go back tomorrow and exchange it.... :(

UK releases come out on Mondays whereas it's Tuesday in the States. What I want to know is why you get it the same week while I have to wait an extra one for Keane. :p

Anybody else buy the actual album and have issues getting the Jupiter album to be recognized by your computer? We returned the hubby's original copy for a new one and had the same problem. Our car CD player reads it just fine. :(

Oh man I just bought this CD. I've been a peppers fan for years...they really nailed it this time.
Grooving and loving it. I like the way they mixed together some of their old sounds with some new stuff. I'm liking 'Mars' better than Jupiter right now.
I've listened to 'Tell Me Baby' roughly 10000000 times in the car over the past few days.
As far as Jupiter not working the computer...no troubles there.

Funny you should say that. Mine arrived at the office at 5pm. I went home and finished packing and then thought, darn, I should have ripped it to iTunes. I did the first album and then did Jupiter (and by then, I was cutting it fine as to when I had to leave for the airport). It imported... and I watched it doing it. Then unplugged things and headed out.
When I got there, I checked and Jupiter wasn't there after all. Worked when I got back home a fortnight later though and yes, I'm enjoying it

I should clarify - it's Mars that won't read. I almost feel like I would be justified in downloading it...
