I answered yes, but truthfully the kind of "update" I'm most waiting for is a price drop. The other things on my wish list may never happen, and I don't want to be waiting forever! :D

I anwsered this poll no. Although if they majorly increase the battery capacity or make the rechargable batteries swapable (and at least the same capacity.) I am going to consider buying a new one.
Other then that, I'm going to wait until my iPod needs repair out of warrenty before I buy a new one.

I answered no because I don't think I am going to be getting an
iPod anytime soon. But if I had money I would.;)

Seems like many of us would consider a price drop an update :) I know I would...

Yes. I won't get one immediately, but soon after the update yep. Hopefully a larger one. I want a firewire HD that also plays MP3's, not an MP3 player that doubles as a HD.

I have to agree. I think the iPod is really cool and I'd love to use it in the car. But I can't justify spending $300+ for an item that I'll use only when I'm driving or other rare occasions. Though a nice price drop could sway me.

No, I have a 10 G iPod and love it. If Apple does update soon there won't be much left to update! I believe we will see iPod next, iBook then 15.x" PB then wait for the transition to a new processor!

i would be fine with the current line of iPods, as they have everythig i would need. all i'm really waiting for is a significant price drop, because 300 is just too much, especially for the 5 gig w/o the touch sensitive scroll wheel or the case or remote.

I will get one when they drop a little in price + the 20Gb version is the middle configuration. I have no need for a larger drive.

I will get one if they drop A LOT in price. There's a lot of other mp3 players that are much cheaper!

I don't want an mp3 player with some limited PDA functions. I want an Apple PDA. In fact, I don't want a Mac... just a little iPod-sized thing that runs OS X and has a VGA port, a USB port (for a keyboard and mouse), and a Firewire port (for a CD burner or anything else). And with an integrated cellphone.
The days of big, bulky computers are just about over. When is Apple going to kill them off by offering the combined ultra-portable computer and cellphone? I'd pay $1500 or more for this. It seems like they have the capability to do it, so... what's the holdup?

The consumer electronics business never stands still and its been almost 10 months since a refresh (the 10/20 gig models). So the time is ripe (especially for 10/20/30 Gb versions at the same price as the 5/10/20). My money is in the bank and will be on its way to Cupertino as soon as the range is updated. My wife has a 5 gig. Any clues as to how to run two iPods off one Mac (can I set up a new user login - just for the second iPod)? HD space isn't an issue.

I answered yes, because I have been waiting for a while for an iPod update. I will probably get an iPod soon after an update comes.

Hey everybody! This is my first post...so i hope it works!
Those are all great ideas...but they couldn't replace looking at a nice big screen, and having your screen burners, drives and accessories all contained in a laptop is pretty sweet(especially if it has a 17" screen!). I want an "ultimate handheld" device too but having to tote around everything seperately would be kinda annoying!

Ive got 300~400 in the bank waiting for a new iPod.
I'll be working as a life-guard this summer earning 7.50 an hour, so my goal of also purchasing a tower also looks to be in range.

I wanted one last year (no money). And was promisd one for xmas. Then it was 'maybe in MWSF there will be a price drop or 40 g' .. then i didnt care. I got mine 3 weeks ago, a 20 G and i love it. With a .gov discount - after which I did discover i could have used also the developer discount. However, I love the ipod and don't care anymore when the 40 - and 80 g- pods will be out. :)

Here's the only update I'll be excited about:
V I D E O C A P A B I L I T I E S ! !
I want to be able to put a DVD in my powerbook....then transfer it to my iPod, and watch it on a train on the way to work!!! how sweet would that be? and for all you tech heads out there....how difficult would it be to put a killer color screen on the ipod and make it possible to do what I am hoping for?
I had a 10 gigger for a while, then sold it to "make room" for an update. I loved it, and will get one again even if there are no video updates. I just hope they don't "waste" an update by putting bluetooth on it....how dumb is that? They already have firewire! why put a slower wireless connection on it? airport extreme...now you're talkin wireless! hmmmm...oh yeah, and a "gig" update to a 30 or 40gig would be nice, but everyone is going to do that....that doesn't set Apple apart or above any other company out there! Well....just some thoughts!

I'll buy a new iPod when a new update of any kind comes out. NEW!!!! By the way, i just sent my 5GB iPod in for repair. Apple let me do it for free even though my warrantee ran out. Isn't that nice. The battery stopped working:rolleyes:

A 30gb for $250 -- comparable to the 30gb external drive I bought a few months ago.

Not waiting here. Already have a 5GB iPod and am very happy with it. If only they would make them more scratch resistant like the new PowerBooks. A switch to polished Aluminum would be nice, but not likely.

I need a radio addon or intergrated. Something that lets me listen to radio through my iPod. Need good reception.

Nope, got a 10gig for my birthday on the 11th, bought it through the Uni's educational link to the Southern Area Educational Consortium (big group of Uni's who bully everyone into giving them cheap kit), paid £245 for it. Lovely, I've already got 2 days of music on it, 2 DAYS, yeah, I've got that much time on my hands:D
I wonder how I waited so long:)

ok buddy bluetooth would be great to use your ipod without cables in your car stereo, home stereo, ect....
I'm sure more and more devices will throw bluetooth inside, you just wait and see.

Maybe for synching with another iPod, or a cool feature like that.
I don't care for BT either, but it could have some cool functions
that could be adventageous to some people.
