What is the max number of songs you can have in the latest iTunes?

I believe its the maximum number of songs your hdd can hold. I have never heard of a limit in iTunes. Of course, as always, I may be wrong.

There used to be a cap of 24,000 songs awhile back (before iTMS existed), but I think that was lifted. I'm aware of people with over 25,000 songs, and rumors of people with 50,000+.
You're likely just limited by your storage capacity.
Edit: This site (http://www.macintouch.com/itunes10.html#feb15) contains a post by a user who ran into a ceiling at 32,000...but that was over three years ago...I'd bet the ceiling's been raised, if not eliminated by now. MacRumors article (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2003/02/20030216152525.shtml) on this.
Edit #2: Apple support document (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61585) showing how to get around the 32,000 limit in iTunes. It specifically mentions that iTunes 4 no longer has this limitation.

I've never heard of a limit, but I could be wrong as well (because I certainly have been all day).

Hmm.. a lot. 64,000? 128,000? 256,000? More than 12,000, I can tell you that for sure.

There was a limit (32.000 I think, but might be wrong) in early versions of iTunes, but that has been fixed... if there's still a limit I guess it's purely academic... ;)
Edit: Slow and partially wrong... d**n that distracting TV... ;)
BTW, why not upgrade to the newest version of iTunes? I've been using 6.0.4 for a while now...

Yup my research concures.
iTunes 2 music libraries are limited to 32 000 songs. You can overcome this limitation by creating multiple libraries.
Note: iTunes 4 no longer has this limitation.
From this I take it that iTunes 6 either has no limit or such a crazy high number that no one in their right mind will ever reach it! (...yet!) I'm guessing there still is a limit somewhere though, just very high. So sorry, no exact number!

If i even become very rich i will buy as many songs from iTMS until it tells me the max has been hit
I would think that the limit would be over how much stuff they sell in iTMS

I have a friend who has over 81,000 Tracks in iTunes, and I saw a screenshot of someone's library with 120,000 tracks.

yeah, and even in one of the threads here 'who has the largest itunes library' someone has over 150,000. which, I don't know why you would want to find britney spears through all that clutter, but ... whatev...:p

120,000 tracks! Wow do they work for a radio station or something? I didn't know that you could listen to that many tracks!
