Description:: Since the new Intel-based portable Macs seems have a problem with temperature, the group suggests the protest should highlight this too.

Is this different from the whining of my PowerBook G4 when CPU is set to Highest? It makes all manner of odd wines and chirps, often in response to what I'm doing. But not all the time, and not terribly loud. I understand a lot of laptops do this (IIRC it's the GPU?)--annoying if I focus on it (once you're expecting a problem, it looms bigger for you), but nothing that really bothers me. More just weird. It's far quieter than the fans, and they're not that bad anyway.

Or is this something beyond that?

At the Apple Store, the MacBooks I checked were not whining at all (just some muttered obscenities--but I expect that from display machines).
